Parking fine, CP Plus LTD, service station

Hello! fellow consumers, here is my situation
Background:
Last month when I was travelling down south I stopped at a service station, just for the night, as it was getting late and I was tired.
Upon arrival I park up directly in front of parking sign, to read the number for the payment line, after 5 attempts to pay via the payment lines automated payment system I was put through to a human!
He was a nice enough guy, I gave him my vehicle make and model, colour and reg and paid via debt card. However, there was some confusion over the registration number at first, but when he read out to confirm it was correct.
A few weeks later I received a parking fine notice for my stay at that car park, I send my appeal a few days later, along the with a record of the transaction for payment of the ticket and basically telling them, if they check there CCTV footage they will see me reading my car number plate, speaking on a phone to one of there advisers, directly in front of a parking sign....
I am sure they keep times of phone calls and the CCTV is time stamped also. Furthermore I still have the record of the call in my mobile phone.
However, as of yet I have received no response to the appeal I sent, its been weeks!
This morning I received another letter informing me that legal action is pending and the fine has been increase to £120.
Addtional
Paid for 24 hours stay, I stayed from 3:30am to 8:40am and was issued by CP Plust limited and its PCN
Help?
To be honest I am really annoyed and I don’t know where I stand at all, could anyone offer me some advice or aid, a number to call or anything? I'm at a loss at the moment. :snow_laug

Personally I'd do absolutely nothing, you've paid, they've suffered no loss, you have records of phone calls and payment. Let them stew, if they are stupid enough to take you to court, they're stuffed.0
-
It's not a fine, they are a private company and have no powers to fine you. Don't waste any more stamps or time communicating with them, they are a bunch of scammers who would be laughed out of any court if they were stupid enough to go near one.
<Grammar Nazi mode on> There = the opposite of here. Their = belonging to them </Grammar Nazi mode off>
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Yup, just ignore all the rubbish they send you but keep it safely just in case. The chances of them trying to really take you to court, not just sending fictitious court papers, is less than you winning 1st prize on the lottery. The real lottery that is, not the Nigerian scammers one.
They'll send about 5 chasing letters including one from a mythodical firm of solicitors and debt collectors, both in the same office as the PPC.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Thank you for the responces, its put my mind at ease. I wont be giving this matter anymore thought. Thanks again.

I received a fine after parking in Knutsford service station from CP Plus on 16/05/10.
I filled in the appeal form saying that i had phoned and left my debit card details; I also phoned twice to the customer service number and got no reply. I also offered to pay the parking amount of £10.
They said they are very sorry but the process was not completed and we are not able to accept the original parking fee once a pcn has been issued and want £50 within 14 days after which point it goes up to £80. I have received a reminder notice for the £80.
I spoke to someone on the number provided 08453032959 and when i asked why the payment was not completed he said he didn't know - he wasn't there when i made the phone call! I said 'well I suppose you could say that to everyone' and he said 'I suppose so what do you want me to do about it?' I asked if this was the way he responded to all callers and he said 'looks like it'.
What to do now any ideas?
Hope you don't mind, I have paragraphed your post as I couldn't read it easily. I am assuming from your post this isn't CP Plus acting for a Council (check that there's no Council logo at all on the ticket?).
If it's just a private parking charge notice and the phone number is for CP Plus or their debt collectors, then you are absolutely wasting your time with any contact whatsoever.
You didn't need to appeal, nor make any phone calls, so stop as that's a premium rate phone line!
Private parking tickets are not real PCNs and you don't have to pay them!
Watchdog covered this last month, and their legal bod helpfully confirmed what we already know on here about what to do with fake parking tickets (whether you have 'contravened their rules' or not):

You will receive debt collector letters telling you to pay up, see examples here of what to ignore:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=2214803
Relax and forget about it, even if you get more letters (as per our examples, we can predict you'll get the same). But to be proactive - if the scam letters get tiresome - you may like to report CP Plus and their debt collectors for harassment:
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment
But don't forget this is NOT a debt, NOT a fine, just a mickey mouse ticket.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
