Admittedly they are slightly different, as the new one has a couple of more things. Not to say they just haven't been added to make it more attractive.

What got me was the exact same starting price and postage, then when I suspiciously checked where the 2 sellers places were, I put 2 and 2 together and maybe made 4...or maybe 5. Possibly no way of checking unless eBay check user IP's.

Checking again, it's not as close as I thought, but a 5.32 miles is pretty close :o

Had bought it for my niece, but now ill have to think of something else!

£4 for second class? Thats a bit much isnt it. It is strange how they both have same P+P but most things start at 99p now since its free to list. could try bidding, seeing if the seller makes an excuse not to sell if it doesnt sell for a lot.

I won an item and the seller has refunded me saying the item is now damaged.

How does a bag just "get damaged"?

I would email them back and say even though it's damaged, you'd like the item, and perhaps they'd give you a discount now it's damaged? Ask them what the damage is.

If they don't play ball, then quite obviously the item wasn't damaged, and they just wanted to re-sell it. They deserve a big fat negative!!

If it arrives very damaged, the you can always open up a not as described dispute...

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Im not so sure they are the same person. The way the listings are set up are different - the most recent one has more item specifics in it.

I think that the more recent one probably did a search before it was listed, saw what this one's postage was going for & then put the same.

I dont believe about your original bag being damaged though. Most sellers would at least give a discount to get it off their hands. My gut feeling is that your seller was contacted outside e-bay with a higher offer. Unfortunately you cant proove this either way, so I think youve done the right thing by walking away with your head held high.

Well, it could easily be different people.

I think my naturally suspicious side arose when I saw the exact same price and postage and the place was 5 miles away. Add that to the listing of the item, minutes after I replied to acknowledge I would not be getting the item and the alarm bells started ringing.

Almost as if a friend had said 'don't sell it for that, I can do a better listing and get you much more'

I'll bid on the new one, but only to my max again. If I had money to throw away i'd bid and bid to see if they had same surname and address or something, but alas I have financial limits like most.

I may ask about the damaged bag and see what happens, but I can easily walk away and buy something else for my niece, who appreciates anything, even though she would have really liked it.

I think you're being almost too nice here, as if they wanted a minimum, then they could have set one...

I would definitely enquire about the damage, and leave feedback depending on the type of reponse you get. If it's genuinely damaged, then fair enough, but I'd put money on them just claiming it's damaged as they wanted more money!

Apparently the bag is to be chucked and the other pieces given to her niece.

Will leave it at that I think. I have a hunch, but nothing concrete.

I don't think they had a price, but I had 2 others on my watchlist that night that went £40+ before postage. They possibly saw that and felt short changed.

Sadly the price is now £8 over what I was going to pay with 2 hours to go. I shall not be bidding so won't find out if it's the same person.

I've now had an email from eBay

Seller has sent you a request to cancel the transaction

Reason for request: The seller did not provide a specific reason.

    --

Is the seller doing this for a reason? Considering she refunded me, I thought this was over. I can only assume it's something to do with her eBay fees or by cancelling, she can re-list, if it wasn't the relisted item under the other name.

Never seen this before, so if it's just the done thing to click cancel or something, then I shall do it.

    Thanks

    Yeah it's about fees.
If you agree to cancel the transaction, she'll get her FVFs back.

Although i'm annoyed at the possible re-listing under another name, I have no real proof, so I shall cancel the transaction when I get home tonight, UNLESS a more experienced eBayer gives me a reason not too, and I can't think of one (I'll listen more closer this time :D)
