British Gas Hung Up on me - Seriously annoyed
I am ex BG cust and just got cold called with the old "If we can save you money would you consider coming back to us" line.
I wasn't too busy so thought I'd give them a go, despite having checked that EON is still the cheapest, and that if I was moving I would use Quidco etc.
He went through the motions, then when I told him the supplier and tariff I am on the line went dead and the call ended !!!
I guess that is their embarrased way of saying we can't save you money but can't bear to tell you !!!
I'm tempted now to call their sales line and give them some consumer revenge.

Don't, it will cost you to call them, and they may well hang up on you again.0

They won't give a damn no matter what you say/do. Don't waste your time would be my advice.
PS My fave trick when I get an unsolicited cold call is to say I'll get the chap you asked for (actually it's always me but they don't know that, do they?), and leave the phone off the hook for, oh, an hour or 2.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Register with tps, if not already, takes approx a couple of minutes http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/
Send a complaint to in regard to marketing calls.

Inform them about that you do not wish for marketing calls, particulary rude ones at that. Inform them you are registered with tps to stop these kind of calls and wish for your details to be completely removed and no more marketing calls. Then ask for compensation for the inconveniance, time, rudeness, distress etc..
Give details of telephone / adresss, hopefully someone should contact you within 24 hrs to sort it out / no more marketing calls and send you a cheque for the hassle etc..0 -

Incorrect.
They do give a damn, just depends on what level you complain to.0 -

Go on, give them a call and then hang up on them yourself!"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
My brother works in BG complaints, & I know they get very annoyed at salespeople who do this. They have enough to deal with already trying to sort out the legacy problems from the billing system designed by Accenture. The person will be minimum given a verbal warning if it's a 1st offence and at worst if it's a repeat offence, sacked.0

I can sympathize. BG customer services treated me in an appalling manner after I bought a new house some years ago. I used just £5 of gas, but got about £150 of compensation after I complained to energywatch.
I used the money to buy a call recorder, and now use it routinely. No reputable organisation has a problem with customers who record calls, but it does put these rogue individuals on their guard.
Tell them you’re recording. If they have a problem, tell them only cheats and liars would have a problem with someone who wants to hold them to account.0 -

I just cant understand this mentality, inconveniance? the OP agreed to listen to the call, time? What was that? 5 mins?
How do you compensate someone for rudeness?
If someone pushes in a queue in front of you do you file a lawsuit?
Distress? Dont make me laugh!
Yes sales calls are an annoyance but going through all that rubbish causes more stress and wastes more time than the call itself took in the first place.
I'm registered with TPS, if I do get the odd sales call I tell them I'm TPS registered and end the call, I dont ask for compensation, I'm just not that greedy. :rolleyes:Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
