So if they were to charge more they wouldn't be money grabbing? Alcohol has or had always been cheap in France, yet they don't have the problem britain has.

But there is a problem in britain and by making these hard liquors so cheap that youngsters can afford them more easily they are condoning that behaviour and encouraging abuse, surely there is a moral obligation somewhere. Hospitals and graveyards are full of the consequences of the cheap alcohol among youngsters.

But all that shows is that petrol is too cheap or water is too expensive ...

... given what you have to do to get the first and what you don't have to do to get the second !

It may be irresponsible but it's hardly money grabbing: The Duty and VAT on a 70cl bottle of 37.5% Spirit is more than the £5 charged. They're actually making a loss on each bottle sold...
