Just some info on the Selekt Vodka, Me and my family tried this a while back and it made us very sick the next day, we now drink Tesco make and get on with it ok. The Tesco value 70cl bottle is great stuff for around a £1 more.

It won in the Europe & Scandinavia category at http://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/content/view/7516/340/ according to the bottle.

thats why britain has the highest alcohol abuse record in europe thanks to money grabbing shops like tescos

So if they were to charge more they wouldn't be money grabbing? Alcohol has or had always been cheap in France, yet they don't have the problem britain has.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!
  • But there is a problem in britain and by making these hard liquors so cheap that youngsters can afford them more easily they are condoning that behaviour and encouraging abuse, surely there is a moral obligation somewhere. Hospitals and graveyards are full of the consequences of the cheap alcohol among youngsters.

cardiffforthefacup does have a point though.
The government and supermarkets have a part to play, you can buy lager cheaper than water in the supermarkets, which is not right.

    anyway, good spot op

You can buy PETROL cheaper than water in supermarkets. Which isn't either

But all that shows is that petrol is too cheap or water is too expensive ...

... given what you have to do to get the first and what you don't have to do to get the second !

It may be irresponsible but it's hardly money grabbing: The Duty and VAT on a 70cl bottle of 37.5% Spirit is more than the £5 charged. They're actually making a loss on each bottle sold...
