Investment in social housing to treble

Liked the bit about locals getting priority - I teach many asylum seekers/refugees who get instantly housed whilst their long-suffering teachers like me would never have a hope of getting anywhere. Not bias - just fact. But again, it will probably never come to pass.
I struggle to understand why the council would house AS as opposed to a local who was in need of accomodation. In fact on the news last they were interviewing people from Barnsley who were saying this, they then interviewed a council official who said that 239 council houses were allocated of which 238 were to locals, was he lying or being economical with the truth e.g. over the definition of locals.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Not the full rent then, fair enough.
One real life example, I recently checked the figures from a friend who has 4 kids in a council house. She's paying £370/month rent just outside London - a privately rented, similar-looking house on her estate would cost £1000-1100/month. We were looking/checking on RM for these figures just a month ago for comparison.

It depends which council accomodation you refer to, there are some dark dangerous places where the relative price/value is not quite so generous 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I wouldn't describe chips as cheap anymore. Rip off - yes. Two potatoes - two quid.
You need an allotment, you do.
Potatoes are easy peasy to grow. Even when everything on our allotment last year got eaten by slugs/bunnies, the potatoes flourished.
We have far, far more than we can deal with again this year. And they're not the kind of things you can give as presents......
Haven't tried chipping them yet, but they're lovely baked, boiled etc....0
