I actually remembered to weigh myself and I was pleasantly suprised as my guessitmate was actually 4lbs above my actual weight :D so as you can imagine I'm rather happy this morning.

Good day yesterday :) Didn't make it to the gym but ate really well all day so am pretty pleased with that.

Jacket potato and salad for lunch today. Cherries, apricots and melon to snack on throughout the day. Off to Aquafit tonight and am going to squeeze in a swim beforehand too.

Feeling very motivated and determined at the moment :)

    Day 8,first WI
    12stone 3 lbs
    4lb loss.

First of all thanks to The Dragon who gave me the incentive to trim down a bit,and to everyone else for their (sometimes hilarious) input.
I do feel that if you try it in a group(albeit online),you do get more support, help, ideas and encouragement.
This 4lb is just really the "puppy fat" and the next four will be a lot harder, although there`s three weeks to get there.
I walk (briskly) for about 50 minutes a day and basically count the cals.
Good luck to everyone,I`m sure you`ll get there if you WANT to.

I've been a bit bad today, I had a packet of Minstrels and a Fudge as well as all my meals - and dinner was OH's famous spag bol which was lovely but quite calorific!!! I have given up calorie counting as can't work them all out (esp when someone else is cooking). I only managed 15 flights of stairs at work but got 2 hours' walking in so redeemed myself somewhat. I am dreading WI tomorrow. :o
My home cooked spag. bol. is about 500 calories a person, since calorie counting exactly is too much of a chore to keep up forever getting it roughly right is good enough IMO.
42g pack of minstrels 211 calories, 80g fudge bar 110 calories.

Your doing a fair bit of excercise, I wonder if you burning through more than 2000 calories on a regular basis so my be need to set a daily calorie target a bit higher to be 500 under using proper food that will satisfy appetite to get there. Might help stop resorting to the sweet things.

Merange nests might be low cal. but it still teaches your head that you can just eat sweet things, weakens resolve when it come to resisting a packet of minstrels or whatever.
    It's all in the mind.
Apparently 3500 calories = 1lb, something to think about when faced with chocolate :D

FairyShazza, well done the weigh in!!! :T Your menu for today sounds lovely, mmm. :D

alared, well done to you too, a 4lb loss is amazing!!!! :T

AdrianHi, good point on the meringues. I know they are still sugary and not good for you. But I think I need something to wean me off the chocolate and they are far lower in cals. It's a case of the least worst option I guess. But I do take your point. Thanks for the calorie estimate for the spag bol - I will try again with calorie counting and estimate anything I don't know. I'm not sure how many cals I'm burning, must check foodfocus and see what they say re walking. It does make me feel better if I burn off extra calories when I've overeaten, I feel like I'm regaining control or something.

WI was this morning and I am 132.4lbs (9st 6.4lbs) so have put on about half a pound this week... bummer!! That means I have eaten 1750 cals more than I should have over the week. :(

Here's my 1 person portion of spag bol, 3oz dry weight spagetti, few other ingrediants not listed for the sauce. Like your OH I'm rather attached to my spag. bol. recipe which varies a bit each time I do it :)

Have you ever tried fruit teas to satisfy the sweet thing craving?
Many flavours are aweful, but blackcurrant flavour works well for me, near zero calories

My weigh in day of the week this evening before dinner.
If I weigh myself first thing in the morning I can be as much as 3lbs lighter, but I started out with weighing myself evenings before dinner so will stick with it.
I'm not sure 0.5lb one way or the other is that significant.

    Rainbowchild, wow, well done you!!!!!

AdrianHi - firstly, I really wish I could like fruit teas, but I hate them. They taste so metallic! I like herbal teas though, esp mint and camomile. Which type of blackcurrant tea do you drink?
I know half a pound is insignificant but it's the fact that I had to have a calorie surplus of 1750 calories to put it on is more pertinent. It is motivating me anyway!

Dragon, how are you feeling today?

I am awful, I had a lunchtime meeting where they didn't provide lunch, only biscuits!!! So I ate four as I was really hungry by 1pm! :( I will have to have a sensible dinner. Breakfast was fruit and a small low fat plain yogurt, so hopefully I haven't done too much damage...

Sainsbury's blackcurrant tea, manages to taste of fruit instead of chipboard / something else.
About the 0.5lb weight. Given it seems the body can vary 3lbs (or at least mine does) depending on time of day, it could just be a small variation due to that.
I'm not entirely convinced by 3500 calories = 1lb since it suggests you would loose 1lb a week on 500 a day below what you burn. I was loosing 2lb a week like this, now it has slowed to about 1lb a week now I've got less to loose. I think it helps to re-enforce the every calorie saved helps idea though.

Not being able to take lunch at the right time is a real killer, don't know the solution to that. I really want lunch by 12.45pm.

Well done on your 4lb loss Rainbowchild :)

I can't stand fruit teas either. I've tried them before but I just don't like the taste of them. I think I'm quite lucky that I don't have the snacking gene I think my area to try and work on is portion control. I cooked a stir fry last night and there was far too much really.

I've had my lunch which was lovely and am going to nibble on my melon pieces this afternoon, I don't think I'm going to need my apricots today after all.
