Ever read a thread thought so good you wanted to tell everyone? Now you can! Click the 'Like-it' button when viewing a thread
What happens: Firstly it alerts the MSE team of a great deal and it also adds a rating, which in some boards you'll soon be able to sort by the 'ratings view'.

Can I suggest another improvement? Some means of inhibiting the ability for users to reactivate an ancient thread. People sometimes randomly add a new post to an old thread which regular users then read without noticing the dates.
How about any thread is locked after receiving no new posts for 6 weeks.0 -
love it martin thanks, i wondered why i had extra buttonshave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0

When I sort by end date using the new buttons, I only seem to get 31/12 and onwards on it... Is there not a way for this to show the competitions that are going to expire the soonest??
I realise I make little sense, but it's been a long day at work
ETA: This is on the competition forumComping since 08 - Back again for 2020!0 -

I don't think it's a good idea at all - then people could not ask further questions about a product without starting a new thread, and it would be more tricky, and rather strange, importing quotes from the old thread without being surrounded by other posts which put it in context
And the Board Guides might have to spend more time merging threads0 -
I like the spam button but I'm wondering why it needs several users to report before it actually becomes effective?
I wanted to report a spammer this evening but had to go and email abuse as well after finding out the button wouldn't actually do anything unless several of us had clicked it. Since I had posted a 'reported' message on the thread, I would have thought that other people would then think 'it's been reported, no need to also report'. Which kinda defeats things a bit.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I think that bumping an old thread isn't always helpful simply because things change and old info about a price or product for example could be outdated and misleading. Some threads I've seen bumped lately were started in 2007 and 2008. So for that reason alone, I think old threads shouldn't be bumped. However I dont agree on the suggested 6 week timescale, I think 6 months would be more suitable.Herman - MP for all!0 -

How about a warning - if you "revive" an old thread (say, more than 2 months since last post) then there's a popup or an extra screen which says something like:
"Warning! The topic you're commenting on is more than 2 months old. Please only post if you think you have something valuable and new to add to the discussion."
and then you tick "Yes, I still want to post" or "Actually, I'll leave it then".
Could do with something similar for the next few posters as well in case they haven't realised the thread is old though...0 -
Seem to be problems with clicking "expired" in closed threads (I was trying to do it in the "regular compeititons" board).
There are a few different error messages - the two main ones being "You do not have permission to access this page" and "Could not find phrase 'expired_report_closed'."
I presume it's because the thread is closed. I haven't tried clicking "love" or "spam" but I guess they might have the same problem.0 -
Love the new header showing you where you are viewing. Like most of the new features I have come across but also seem to have lost the view first unread button which I found very useful. Please can we have it back?
Also noticed the spam button is quite close to the USER CP header in some cases - let's hope for accurate mouse-use!0
