Dixons in Belfast have already changed to Currys since before Christmas. I'm not sure of the exact date.

I have had one of the Sanyos for 18 months now. THey use MP4 format to record video (not quite quality of VHS)

    Good bits

Small, very portable, great photos, interprolates to 8 megapixels (well mine does), comes with docking station and a semi hard case, leads and an off camera battery charger. Software for MP4 and photos.

For skiing or any sort of activity (sports - mind out of the gutter please) where a small portable camera is useful it is ideal.

    Not so good bits

Battery life is not very good, the more you zoom the sooner it dies, 10-15 minutes of filming is just acheivable but a spare battery is essential.

Picture quality is OK on a laptop for playback it is not digital quality (640 x 480 25 fps I think) but better than most high end digital compacts (better fps)

Another very annoying bit is the fact that on taking a picture there is about a second delay before you can take another and the screen goes blank during

The best way to look at this is as a digital camera that lets you take a reasonable video.

If you want a digital camcorder for its quaility forget this one.

I paid £215 from Ebay (Hong Kong) and dont regret it.

Just had my order confirmed for what seemed like a cracking deal. We went out looking at TVs on Saturday and fancied the Samsung LE40R51BX which was £1499 in both Comet and Currys shops. A few years back ago that would have been it. I would have tried to talk it down £100 and perhaps get suckered into the extended warranty but thanks to the 'net (this site in particular) things are now different.
I spent Saturday evening surfing around for the best deal and came up with:
    Dixons online price : £1199
    AND free delivery
    AND delivery on Good Friday
AND a free DVD surround sound system (quoted at £149)
    AND a half-price stand (saving £90)
    AND a £50 discount code
    AND £25ish Quidco cashback
Thanks to those who have made deals like the above accessable to all of us :)
    Can I help?

Did they actually debit your card, or just reserve the money on it? If they actually debited it they are bound to a contract and you can insist they sell you one. If they can't get one you have the right to buy one elsewhere and insist that they pay you the difference between what you pay and the £14.99. (Loss of bargain I think it's called).

Im so sorry I did'nt return to this thread. I sure wish I did. I hav'nt seen my statement on my card yet but I got the impression that thay were going to refund my card (I never authorised this). I have just written to them with this advice. I doubt that they will reply though. What course of action should I take? Should I ring them or take it to Trading Standards
