Hi, I was looking at the Sanyo as well, but then I compared it to the next one down the list, the panasonic which has 30x Optical Zoom and 1000x Digital Zoom compared to 5.8x Optical Zoom and 12x Digital Zoom on the sanyo. Also I don't think you'd be able fit much footage in to a 1GB SD card... but then again I dont know for sure.

With the rebranding of Dixons, they seem to be closing a lot of stores, my local store closed last week and on the last day they sold everything off at less than half price. I got some bargain accessories for the Xbox, half price games and cheap cables. The manager said a lot of small stores are closing!

Sorry it has closed now, but worth checking whats happening with your local store.

Please post if you hear of any, I'd missed all the TV's and they were selling off ex display LCD's and plasmas

The camaeras with a 4Gb microdrive take an hour at good resolution, so this is probably 15 mins.

Regarding the Sanyo C40 - have a look at the Sanyo site:
    h??p://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/products/vpc_c40/index.html

It can store 1Hr on a 1Gb. When you think that a whole movie will fit on 4.7Gb (DVD) - this is about right.

The camera is also a 4MP photo-camera (with 60x zoom)....AND you can always take it back to Dixons for a full-refund within 14 days (see returns policy).

Finally, with SD media now at around £20/Gb and will get cheaper over the months this is not too bad... OH YES I ordered one last night!

Agree - I was in Slough Dixons about 5:15 today and no real offers just bored assistants itching to go home and a couple of currys.digital posters.

Dixons and Currys are the same group - the stuff on Dixon site is the same as on Currys site and vice-versa. They are also the same gorup as PC world soprobably the same price there. The stores closing down might have some good offers but all the bigger stuff from the current lines won't be reduced much just taken their their new Curries stores. My friend worked for them when the Stevenage one when shut down about 4 years ago and the new big Currys opened.

Reading the blog on the BBC news page I can't see how it is going to cost them 7m to rebrand. The only difference between C & D is that C sells the bigger 'home' White appliances while Dixons is more TV's, DVD, PC's, Cameras and the like.
