wasn't sure where to post this, so apology if it's in wrong place. Read today that there were thousands of 20p's put into circulation without any date on them, should have been stamped 2008, the royal mint is paying £50 for them to be handed in via their website, although some coin collectors reckon that in a decade they could be worth a lot more, time to start checking to see if i can find any!! Happy hunting!

    Hi Denice,

    Thanks for post!

There was a post/thread already about it here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1782359&highlight=20p .....

(so your post will prob. be merged) ....... which makes interesting reading but for those who missed it your post will now 'bump' or reurrect it when merged - thanks for posting and wanting to share.

By the way a tip from kim_ley (thanks kim!) - also look out for the normal dated old design 2008 coins. Some collectors may find them interesting as ...... (quoted from a seller on e-bay) ..... 90% of 2008 coins were printed in the new design and without a date so only 10% of the coins in circulation that year were stamped with the old & dated design. This by definition (if accurate) makes them scarce and collectible.

So a double chance to find that something from that year's 20p's that might be worth something to collectors.

    Thanks again for post denice.

thanks pip, also just read that some 2p coins from 199something also have 'new pence' on them instead of ' two pence' and these are now very rare and very collectable.

Just a word of note. A company wouldn't buy coins for such a high price unless they would be worth something much more in the future.

There's some 2ps with 1983 New Pence listed on ebay. The highest bid is just over £1.
