I can understand why p*adophile would be banned, but I don't think it should be. It isn't a swear word as such, just refers to a contentious subject.
Do you mean fiancee in the second word? If so, that does not appear to be banned.
There are a few words that bemuse me - f'e'ckless is banned (yet I don't see that as swearing, I can say it in front of my Dad!), yet bloody isn't!
(The ' symbols do not represent letters, just put them in to get through the filter!)
Gone ... or have I?0 -
can't understand why !!!!!!!! is banned
O R I F L A M E
when posting comps the swear filter won't let me use it, but it's a legit companyplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

That was one of the keywords that the nutcase yahoo/mafia/porn spammer we had a while back was using. So I think that is why it was added to the forum word filter.
A lot of the other seemingly strange choices for banned words may well be because they frequently turned up as part of spam links/posts in the past.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

f e c k was put into the swear filter when it was constantly used to circumvent the swear filter, then the accented e was used so it too was filtered out.0

I know people that swear in front of their parents.
The parents also swear, in front of their kids.
That doesn't make it right, in fact it really only points out what type of person you/your family are0 -

I really don't understand why the P word is banned. It's ridiculous and a genuine subject , I don't know anything about software but surely there is an easier way to deal with spammers?
Sorry. But you did not see that mass spam campaign that this nutter performed against this site.
At on point it was 50+ threads posted of the vilest content posted 7/8 or more times a day.
It was truly a repulsive display of the worst aspects of the internet.
So I'm glad the MSE team took some harsh measures to quell it. Whether they are still vailid is another issue, but I would rather a few restrictions than that foul poster coming back.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

At least the forum does not have problems like this:
An errant email filter caused Rochdale Council to ignore an objection to a planning application because it contained the word "erection".
