My sausage casseroles (which are veggie sausages) always have red peppers, onions and mushrooms in them too. GOod way to bulk it out and you get lots of extra veggie points too!0

I always put mushrooms and onions in mine, but I never add carrots or root veg as I don't think they go with tomatoes.Jane

Fantastic ideas guys, I'll be throwing in all the spare veg I can find in the fridge and I do have some peppers to use up, no mushrooms though and I'm not ging to the shops or I'll be tempted by other things.
I'll probably keep the mash seperate as OH doesn't think he's had a meal if it all comes out of one pan.......
I'd forgotten to put an onion in the original post, I think all my cooking starts with "first chop onion"0 -
I always add plenty of garlic, red wine, splash of worcestershire sauce, celery, bay leaves, herbs from garden, stock from freezer (if need to increase the liquid) and root veg shopped into large pieces (or it goes all soggy) in mine.

Does anyone have a simple recipe for sausage goulash?
I ate this at a friends house a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely, daughter liked it too so I'd love to be able to make it!
I have searched the forum but can't find a recipe that uses sausages?
Thanks in advance! xxx0 -

I usually do my sausages in a tomato based sauce. I dry fry a pack of good quality sausages, then add some chopped onion (and sometimes garlic and chopped celery) and mushrooms. I then add a tin of tomatoes and a bit of worcester sauce and some basil (and red wine if a bottle is open). When its ready I add some pre-cooked pasta (or sometimes boiled potatoes). Always goes down a treat and you can see from my instructions that the ingredients vary each time so it always tastes a bit different.0
