I swear by NOT browning the sausages, so they go all soft and lovely in the casserole as they cook.

 They make me gag when they're like that:eek: LOL. One man's meat and all that

I have to admit to using Coleman's sausage casserole mix :o:o:o

We really like the taste of it.Its a packet mix you add to water.I use browned sausages, onions, mushrooms and red peppersand sometimes some carrots.Goes lovely with mashed spuds! ;)

I am definitely going to try some of these lovely recipes, but we do like the odd packet sauce. I've been quite successful with using the herbs/proper versions of flavourings etc that they list on the packet, so you get a similar taste but more nutrients and less chemicals.

  • my recipe is parts from all of the above recipes or I tend to use a packet and add some stock, tomato puree, garlic powder and herbs. A packet never seems to make as much as I need for some reason

I must try some of these recipes out but I have no patience and no slow cooker so into the pressure cooker it will go!

I'm planning a sausage casserole tonight so I'm throwing in the sausages, a tin of toms, tom puree, handful of herbs and a tin of flagolet beans (found at the back of the cupboard) and popping in the oven for a while whilst I go and ride the hoss.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what else to add? I was going to do a root veg mash to go with it (to soak up the sauce).

CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • I'd add root veg to the casserole. You could put it in the oven with a pastry top, or have dumplings or crusty bread and butter, or mash and veg with it?

i like mashed potato with turnip mashed in and a little nutmeg.

I'd chuck in some stock and/or worcester sauce, mushrooms, maybe some red wine and garlic.
