I have also cleaned all the pictures and glass in the sitting room, and washed the window (well, I was doing the sill, so I noticed it needed a wipe... the window cleaner did the outside earlier this month!). It should all come together by the end of the week :D

ETA - yes Pigpen, the gas will have made that much of a difference. Which is why it's worth looking now at what you can do to improve things for the winter. Check your loft insulation, and do some draft-proofing, plus make sure you have nice thick blinds and curtains especially in north-facing rooms. If you're re-laying carpet, make sure you have decent underlay (a thick layer of newspaper is perfectly acceptable!). You should be able to get grants for some of this. Remember it won't just be the heating using less gas. The water won't be as hard to heat at the moment, and you'll probably be having slightly cooler showers.

I'm still hoping it's a virus that can sometimes cause inflammation within the joints. After our last visit I was told it was because he was double jointed so I was expecting him to be discharged today. Bit of a shock to find out they now think it is something. I still find it odd that he gets the pain just before he grows out of all his clothes...they insist there's no such thing as growing pains though! (sorry, that turned into a rant didn't it!!).

ACTUALLY.. it has been proven there ARE growing pains.. the ligaments get loose and floppy and can sometimes get a bit strained as they stretch just before a major growth spurt the joints become a bit loose it is easier for them to be strained. My sister had this problem until she stopped growing.. from being about 3 or 4 she would sometimes be unable to walk her legs hurt so much.. so whoever told you there is no such thing is an idiot! and you have my permission to tell them so!

My friend at school would get inflamed joints when she was having a growth spurt as well which was very painful and quite often she would be off school for a week or so until things calmed down.

Hi everyone, hope you're all well! Love and hugs where needed, haven't had a chance to catch up with you all!

Works manic, homelife isn't much better - struggling to keep things as normal as possible for my niece but thankfully she seems unaware that things aren't 'normal' so must be doing something right!

Off to to her homework with her then i really must get on with the essay on 'working in a team' that's due on the 14th July - apart from the subheadings i've done nothing! :o

    Catch up soon xx

Switch everything off at the mains when not in use (not the fishtank ;)). User laptops rather than PCs as they are more efficient, and make sure that they are set to hibernate when left for more than 10 minutes (set them to sleep after about 5, and for the PCs, get the monitors to sleep after 2).

Although heating water with gas is cheaper than with electricity, try to use showers rather than baths as they'll use less hot water.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how many radiators you have on... they try to heat the whole house anyway. Make sure that you close doors between rooms, lag any pipes (hot water or heating) that you can get to, and set your heating controls to the minimum time you can get away with (I start with very little, increase it through the winter, then decrease it as it gets warmer - I'd rather do a manual override than accidentally have it on too long). Thermostatic valves on radiators are a worthwhile investment, as is a jacket for the hot water tank. Find out what grants you may be eligible for too, both from your council and from your energy supplier.
