Win 7 Upgrade Pricing

So....upgrade prices are out in the states http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-Windows-7/category/102?WT.mc_id=msccomhpfeature_win7 and they show it starting at $50 for the Home Premium version.

I know they're making some sort of posture over here about EU regs preventing them from offering an upgrade and we'll have to pay for a full version (rumoured to start at £80ish) but this feels like yet another case where we're being ripped off.

If it was $50 here, I'd definitely get it. £50 then possibly but I'm not in that much a rush. I've been playing with the beta and it's pretty solid but I don't see that big a change from Vista. Besides, I do most of my main computing on a mac these days and will probably be getting snow leopard when it comes out.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Im not disagreeing with you , but then you could say that with every other product that is sold in America compared to Europe. Its because in america if the put the price up on any item or americians think the item is overpriced there will be outrage or they wont buy it. Over here the british people dont care basically , they will pay any price for anything just as long as they can "Ive got it" so why would companies lower there prices when they know the british people are still going to pay for it.

True but there's another report on Kotaku about how british retailers are reporting no pre-orders for the PSP-Go given it's local £230 price tag. I'm hoping that given the current economic climate, they won't get away with it this time.

and to the op ,we can pre order windows 7 upgrade from next month 15th i think and we cannot just upgrade we have to do a full install and the E version do's not have a browser ,so you will need one downloaded on a cd or usb stick before you go to upgrade
blame the EU lot for that in Brussels
