As a general rule the only things that are cheap at Argos are either cheap and nasty, or reduced to clear.

As for Ikea the quality isn't good on many products, but a few items seem to be quite sturdy.

Have you bought much furniture from Ikea as I find the quality to be very good and most really sturdy and has lasted for years with a lot of shifting about

I don't think you can say the quality isn't good on many products unless you have bought a wide range of items, I use their cutlery, (£5 I think it was), goes through the dishwasher every day and still comes out sparkling after several years.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Yes I have, and I have regretted it. Like I said some items are quite solid, but many are just like the old MFI from years ago. In fact my daughters drawers just collapsed last week.

I know they are cheap, and you get what you pay for, but the quality on some items is terrible.

I've never heard of cutlery falling apart, so that isn't really a good comparison to furniture.
