Argos or Ikea

Also think about whether the stores are local - how far do you have to travel to Ikea? Normally an Argos is fairly close to hand.
Like the others said, would really depend on the item. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
Timing is critical with Ikea, after extensive research, and hotdogs I find it best to go first thing on Tuesday mornings preferably during term time.
You'll probably have the place to yourself.
A leisurely cooked breakfast for about £1 with a free cup of coffee (via your family card) and you are ready to go.
Don't forget to go to bargain corner, where you can haggle a bit.
Sale now on.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
ikea sizings are also bigger. Drawers are deeper and much more sturdier. If you did see something you like @ argos though look at Homebase as it will be the same thing (owned by same co.) but different name, cheaper price (most of the time), and, you get to see it in person0

I stand corrected........shows how much I shop at Ikea !!
I'm sure they didn't accept credit cards in the past. I can remember handing over my bank card and "praying" it would go through, beacuse I had forgot they would not accept the credit card when I bought stuff and had already gone through the till.. .I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
I assembled a book case from Argos the other day and compared to Ikea stuff that I have assembled in the past, its quality was rubbish. I would definitely not buy one from Argos for myself.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
We had bedroom furniture from Argos, really not up to much. We had spent quite a bit on it, when we decided to paint our bedroom we moved it and it fell apart (yes our fault we know). We didn't have much money so we had a look at Ikea. We bought new wardrobes and chest of drawers for very little and the quality and finish was far superior and far sturdier. I'd never buy Argos bedroom furniture again.0

 Thanks for all your replies they are very helpful. I did forget to put what I was looking for!! lol.:o Its the Billy display cabinet in Ikea, but I was thinking about Argos because have got some vouchers and its nearer, but after reading what people have put I'm thinking more of Ikea. :j0

I love Ikea furniture never had any problems with it. I just checked out delivery charges for a bed that I need to buy in a few weeks & its £35 if you order online:eek:. So I guess thats the same if you ask instore about delivery. I live within 15 miles of a store so I reckon that is a bit steep!0

We have the billy cabinets from Ikea and can highly recommend them. Very sturdy and have been moved several times with no problems, great vfm.0

We have Billy bookcases from Ikea and they're great, ours have lasted three moves now and they're still in really good condition. They hold a lot of books too lol
We have an Ikea bed too and that's fine, again it's really sturdy. The only thing to be aware of is that Ikea beds come in strange sizes - I think they're slightly bigger than the standard UK sizes for beds. It's not a massive issue but it does mean that you have to get mattressess and bedding from Ikea too, as the standard stuff tends not to fit too well. However, our Ikea mattress is really comfy so that wasn't a problem for us.
