    she wanted these ones.

Half an hour later, we went back and saw a different lady. Told her she'd been measured 13F, and which style we'd tried/wanted. She fitted them onto DD and said they're far too tight, and we'd need a G!

Her feet had grown a width in 30 minutes! Amazing!

Luckily, they didn't have the 13G in stock, so we went to Brantano and got some lovely hush puppies instead!
    1. feet swell the more a child walks
    2. some shoes come up smaller and the 13 f is a guide from where to start from
    3. would you rather she left your daughter with a pair that was too tight

I have never got shoes anywhere but Clarks for my kids - i feel so guilty if i even think about it - where can i go that does good quality shoes?!

Anyway, I went to Russell and Bromley yesterday to try them and left with shoes for my daughter that i really wasn't sure about. Went across the road to Clarks (OMG how busy?! All the Mum's in the world were there?!) They said they would check the shoes from R and B and they did and said they would be ok but not last her too long. Also when they checked the back of them they literally fell off her feet, they didn't fit at all. So we spent about 45 mins trying to find something to fit my 10yr old that she liked and they were SO helpful.

Took the others back to R and B and they didn't even ask why...they couldn't care less!!

Not going anywhere else again. I heart clarks! (Unless you can offer cheaper alternatives, its all about the savings after all ;))

HAven't read the whole thread so sorry if this is posted already, but found this put in your post code and you can find a local stockist http://www.startriteshoes.com. http://www.jonesbootmaker.com/ebusiness1/store/content.jsp?pid=31

As the mother of a 16 year old and 11 year old I have tried allsorts and been everywhere. I really have had a very up and down relationship with Clarks - once upon a time someone would always be called to check the fitting, but not any more. This year I was sold a pair of shoes a full size larger than the fitting as we had a month to go before return to school. She put an insole in, but when she wore them around the house I thought this is ridiculous they were like clown shoes! We returned them and complained they really couldn't care less.

However one thing that really annoys me is when you have to wait ina queue when the person in front is quite clearly just getting a fitting and then going to buy them online, GRRR.

I have had twom poor experiences with Clarks - the first time I took my eldest in, they just couldn't be bothered to help usget upstairs to the kids shoes. The second time, it was a Clarks in a mothercare and it was staffed by teenagers who were too busy planning their night out to care. The shoes rubbed her feet and I took them back the next day. I'm lucky in that Gordon Scotts is fantastic for fitting shoes and there is also a small, independent shop that is absolutely brilliant and no more expensive than Clarks.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I go to Jones the Bootmaker now as my 14 yr old is in a size 10:eek: and the mens shoes at Clarks are a bit -'urgh' (his words) I tend to get his in the sale as they are so expensive otherwise.

Littlie loves his Timberlands from JtB as well and they last forever!!!! And I really wish I had a little girl so I could buy LellyKellies:rotfl:

A little off topic, but as mum to a 6ft 4 inch 15 year old who hasn't grown for over a year have you tried Slaters Menswear for your sons shoes?

I got my sons school trousers from their last year and the assistant said their shoes go up to a 15 so might be worth a look.

My son got his school shoes from Clarks again this year. He has gone up a size since last year and is now a size 9. Tiny feet for his height.
