Would be Helpful To have Date Of Original Post Showing On Post

Normally only use Freebies Board and was going to post on chat thread there but having just discovered this board (!!!) thought would prob. be more useful here.
Have often thought that if the date of the original post showed on the left hand side under the post title and the posters name, it would be really useful.
Maybe not quite so much on some boards as others but certainly on things like the Freebies Board etc. sometimes a very old post is resurrected and there is no way of telling. People will sometimes apply for or reply to something that is really old without realising or without meaning to bump it.
Would anyone else find this useful if it is possible? (hope posted in best place).

Totally agree with this. Ever more frequently there are threads more than a year old, where someone who's searched for a subject, finds the thread and adds a comment, thus bumping it to the front page. Then all the regulars read the post and perhaps don't notice its advanced age.
I would like all threads to be closed to new entries after say 6 weeks. But if this is too sensible for MSE Towers, then do what you suggest and add the date of the first entry alongside the name of the first poster.0 -
Hi,
Can I just check whether you're asking for something different to the date and time just above everyone's usernames?
I'm probably completely misunderstanding what you're asking.

The date and time above the usernames (which is currently shown) refers to the most recent post on the thread.
This proposal is to provide the same information (date, don't need the time) for the first i.e. the original post alongside where the originator's name is already shown on the left.
That will warn users who click on an enticing title, that maybe the thread is some months or years old.0
