I think the policy is simply to stop local corner shops filling their shelves with stuff from supermarkets when they are cheap - dont know how the shops go about doing their accounts tho - that has always puzzled me. So dont take it personallyClearing the junk to travel light

I totally accept that paracetamol and asprin are controlled for sale, but I have never yet been able to find the legislation that restricts the sale of ibuprofen. My local Mr T. swears blind that it exists and refuses to sell me 16 paracetamol and 16 nurofen at the same time. If they are going to enfore the law, and no one is arguing otherwise, I wish they would get it right!
If I am wrong on this I'd love to be pointed in the right direction,I think you are correct about the ibuprofen, I remember there used to be no restriction then it appeared in the training that we had one. Maybe we are being over cautious? I don't know to be honest on that one. I'm just going by my training on it. We are told that we can't sell more than 2, so we don't as it is a disciplinary offence if it turns out that we are breaking the law.
Hi
Ibuprofen is in a class of drugs known as 'NSAIDs' (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). This is the same class of drugs as aspirin.
The guidance restricting sales in supermarkets applies to NSAIDs, not just aspirin, that's why it also applies to ibuprofen! For some time, there has been a limit on the amount that can be bought over the counter in a single transaction in the United Kingdom; this being 2 packs of 16 x 200 mg or 1 pack of 8 or 16 x 400 mg, the latter being far less common for over-the-counter sales.

We've noticed the 10 item limit on tesco.com online grocery deliveries. Tried to order 12 bottles of cola but it wasn't having it0

Don't you think it may be all a marketing ploy to MAKE people buy in bulk? if you are told you cannot do something most people will want to do it all the more.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I live on a sea side resort and often see business use supermarkets as cash and carries, although worked at one take away who would use them for veg and drinks to sell to punters at 60p a can
Another takeaway I worked for used Aldi it was mainly Indian restaurant but did odd takaway
It does seem to be something very common on the coast.0 -
My part time job is doing the orders for Sainburys To You and I've realised that more and more people are buying in bulk. Gone are the days that people buy 1pt of milk, a few tins and a packet of biscuits.
As far as I know, the only restriction for home delivery is bottled water.
I just get the feeling that businesses are using the home delivery as an alternative to going to the cash and carry.
25 bottles of handwash
40 litres of UHT milk
30 tins of tuna
16 Coca Cola can multipack
Really annoys me as you end up clearing the shelves and then people moan that the shelves are empty.
I don't mind if it's one item they want a lot of, say 20 yogurts or something, but when every single item is like that, it drives me crazy lol
I know sometimes you get 'Maximum 4 per customer' on special offers but I always go with someone else and put it through as two separate shops.
The Tesco Wine deal probably ended up with them selling out completely, I'm surprised they didn't clamp down on it lol£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840 -
I had to buy in larger quantities recently when sorting out a PTA event. I was told about the restriction but a supervisor was called and she was happy for it to go through. They did say that the problem had been caused by businesses using it as a 'cash & carry' and this caused problems with regular customers. The supervisor said that if you ask it shouldn't be a problem unless there is restricted availability.0
