  • went to Ts lpool city centre after a hard days shopping got the £9 deal as a treat and a couple of other things. Gave in first coupon
"we cant take this one " gave in next one
" you didnt buy this so we cant take it"
    whipped out policy she said
" but this store doesnt follow this policy and ive been here 5 years"
called over supervisor she repeated their store policy
i said "its from HO and a country wide policy "
" they may do this in a store by you but we dont take them here "
Gave her back all shopping and said
    " i will leave this then "
"why dont you want any of it? "
" i will be on the train in 2 mins and can go to the other Ts when i get off they will take the coupons so i will do that thank you "
just walked out - as i dont go their often not worth hassle - strange they have never taken them.
For any one in lpool city center dad says you can put in 2 coupons on ss without needing to have them authorised.

I had my coupons refused in my local store 10 days ago - no product no coupon, manager wouldnt shift, showing my copy of the coupon policy just made him more stubbon.
After 20 mins of arguing i left my shopping and walked out.
I emailed Terry ( boss man ) and here is the reply i received today.

    Dear Mr XXXXXXX

Further to my previous email, I am very sorry to learn of the problems you experienced in our ******* temporary store, when you tried to redeem your internet coupons and I can understand how unhappy you must be.

As a company committed to delivering the very best in terms of customer service it is always disappointing when a customer is unhappy with any aspect of our service. Therefore in order to ensure that the points you have raised are addressed correctly, I have brought these to the attention of Steve ******, our ***** Store Manager.

Steve has asked that I pass on his apologies to you and is disappointed that you have been left with such a poor impression of his store. He was concerned to learn of the level of service you have received and has assured me that he has taken the necessary action to prevent this from happening again.

Please let me clarify our position on the acceptance of coupons in all our stores:

A Non-Tesco product coupon (branded retailer for example, Cadbury's) will be accepted even if you don't buy the item. But, the coupon must be in date and we must sell the product. If you present more than one identical coupon you need to purchase the same number of products. This also includes coupons printed from the internet. However, these may be subject to acceptance at the discretion of the Store Manager. In all cases the terms and conditions of the coupon should be printed on the coupon so that they can be referred to if necessary.

We also accept other retailers spend and save vouchers, for example £3 off if you spend £30. However, we do not accept other retailers product coupons.

Steve has assured me that the policy is being practiced in the store and is therefore unsure why his staff refused to accept your coupons.

Should you experience any further problems in the store, Steve would be more than happy to discuss these with you personally. If Steve is not on site, the Store Manager Designate will be pleased to assist you in his absence.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. I do hope that despite this incident we may still look forward to being of service to you in the future.

    Kind Regards

    Yvonne Edmonds
    Customer Service Executive

Remember it was Steve that refused to honour the policy in the first place......

Great reply Cabbage. Are you able to share a brief outline of the initial email you sent ?

This is the email i sent to Terry after having problems instore.......

    Hi
I wonder if you could clarify for me the Tesco policy on coupons ( again )
I had an unfortunate incident in your Canock branch with all my coupons being rejected - REF: TES*********X.
Your customer services department at Dundee we really kind and helpful and advised me of your policy.

Locally to me, a Tesco temporary store was opened, the first time I tried to use my coupons as per the national policy I was refused.
I asked to see the manager but only got as far as the checkout manager
After 20 minutes of discussion about the policy and me showing her both the policy and the letter I had had previously from Dundee about the Canock store she finally came to a decision,
1 Internet coupon per item bought.
I was happy with this as it clarified their policy and I knew where I stood when shopping in that store.
I asked if this was going to be their policy and would all checkout cashiers be aware.
I was assured that this would be their policy and all staff would know and that, in future I would not have to argue with the staff and summon the manager.

Saturday 11th July, I visited the Temporary store, did a small amount of shopping
Upon producing my coupons to reduce my shopping bill, I was told that they no longer took coupons unless I'd bought the product.
I insisted that we had discussed this with the checkout manager a few days before. They were adamant and firm - no coupons taken unless product bought. No arguments, the previous checkout manager had no rights to take coupons.
I ended up leaving the store in disgust, and going to a tesco store further away, who would take my coupons.

What is the point of Tesco having a national policy of coupon redemption for all their stores, if all the stores have different rules, and change their policy day to day depending on what manager or staff is on duty ?

All of my coupons were genuine, all full colour printed in high quality, none could be seen as fake or copied
I even offered to put my name and address on the back so it could be tracked back to me.

I am aware that Tesco get full redemption and a small handling fee for these coupons, so why are the stores either not aware of the national police or are not abiding by it ?
Can the store manages be "educated" to the policy ?
Do I now have to travel 14 miles to a Tesco store that takes my coupons when there is a store 2 miles away, surely all stores are part of the bigger picture and the coupons end up in the system wherever the are handed in ?

    I await your comments
    Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the heads up the other day m4rtin about the Nicorette may be coming to an end. Sorry to say it has now ended. It lets you register still and makes you think you are going to get a coupon but there aren't any coupons on the page to print.

1st stop was tesco, they took all of my coupons without a problem.as they always do every day.they call me coupon man.(maybe i should where a cape, and have my underpants on the outside)

took dog to the vets because of a spot on his chin... That cost £43 just to be told it only a mole nothing to worry about.

Took my car for its m.o.t. It passed with only 1 advisory that cast another £52.

Came home tryed to print out some more coupons. The printer wouldnt work lights flash but nothing happens. Had to buy a new printer got a hp deskjet d1560 only £25 in argos (paid for with my magnum ice lolly card)

then come back and there was a letter from the tax man. Oh no i thought what now.

But to my surprise in the letter he tells me hes paid me £855 for unpaid working tax credit.. Not bad as i gave up work last june. I telephoned them to make sure this was right and they confirmed it was.

    What a day.
