Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sat 27th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Ohhhh how exciting, we are back on earlier than planned :T.

Morning all, its a little bit cloudy this morning, but no rain yet, fingers crossed as we are having a bbq tonight for the USA guests. Today its my job to entertain them, I will take them to Chichester for the day, plenty of history and good shops. Then it will be back to my sister's for the evening.

Not a lot of OS has been going on the last few days, yesterday we had a lovely lunch out, I had a ploughmans,at a very old pub, where they serve real ales straight from the barrel, which the americans thought was great :D

I have just put a wash on, and another to follow, quick tidy round, and then off out to act as tour guide :D

Have fun all, and hugs to those in need xx

  • Morning all,
I haven't posted on here for ages, but thought I'd say hi this morning as I'm browsing.
It's a warm but cloudy day here in Yorkshire, so I'll hopefully get the last of the washing on the line. I'm washing and sorting through all the tiny baby clothes, as I'm 22 weeks pregnant and we're having a surprise, so am finding all the unisex things :D
Plans for today involve doing the ironing, hopefully making some buns, and then going to the local gala at the Church Centre this afternoon.
Hope everyone had a good weekend x

Wave hello to everyone :hello: and it's nice to be back.

DH and I have been taking DD (20) for driving practice every day to help her out and I have been engrossed in the pandemic flu sites over the last week.

DH is spooked because I told him several days ago I would not be suprised if we got over 4000 cases by the end of the week- meaning Sunday night.

Yesterday afternoon it reached 4250 so he looks at me as if I am about to explode wondering how I knew.

Took great satisfaction in telling DH (who used to be a maths lecturer) that you just have to understand the figures and graphs.

Getting ready quickly for a one day sale (one morning really) to see if I can grab some bargains. (tops, skirt etc for summer).

Cashed in my Pigsback vouchers and going to treat myself to a shallow Remoska pan next week.

DD (20) helped me convince DH the hall and stairs really need a new carpet, we found a sale on and he of the "I'm not spending any money on this house as we are selling it) has asked to be quoted for the stairs, landing, two bedrooms and front room to be carpeted with "neutral, paleish, Home Doctor type carpet and underlay.:j

Going to read up on the previous threads and catch up a bit.

Hugs to all and see you later.

    Morning all

having a bit of a skive from the weekendly grind of housework catch-up. dgs(4) is over looking after Nana as otherwise i would have been Home Alone  We're going out in a bit - he was given a choice between the museum of dinosaur bones and the museum of buses and tubes and chose the London Transport Museum. Will have to have words with dd as he has said "B*gger" at least 17 times this morning

yellow ticket meat bonanza last night so we will have burgers tonight. I'm also just about ready to give up on my sourdough experiement - haven't had a sucess all week but may make another starter this week and try again.

    have a good day

Hope you are all well the weather here is very humid yuk so need to get on with the washing
After a very bad week things got worse yesterday as we had to go to court over OHs nans will and overpayments with estranged MIL suffice to say that it was an expensive day but at last after 4 years we never have to hear from her or her evil twin again. DD2 had to go to hospital last night as her down below swelled up so another trip thankfully all is ok they dont know what it is but nothing serious which should go of its own accord, at this point i could have cheerfully come home packed my bags driven to the airport but that wouldnt have been very money saving:D
Next week will be better and in preperation for this i have put DD1s prom pics on line
    linky here http://s168.photobucket.com/albums/u172/carajady/prom%202009/

Halight hope the twins have a lovely party
    have a good day

That's interesting Taplady, I've not heard about this event. Which park?

I'm not feeling too good this morning-combination of opening a second bottle last night, hayfever and a cold. Maybe it's swine flu

I've just hung out my washing and picked a bowl of raspberries. They're early this year I've already had several bowlfuls. My blackcurrants are ripe too.

My eldest son has gone gliding with the air cadets, younger son is off to see Transformers 2 with his mates and daughter wants me to take her to the school fete this afternoon. I hate fetes, waste of money. I haven't even made cakes for it this year 'cos I forgot- miserable old bat aren't I? Still, she'll love spending all her money on nothing.

Not sure what's for lunch but we're having salmon for tea.

    Morning everyone

Awww - tired mum your daughter looks beautiful - you must be so proud :D My DD has her's next year  Time flies doesn't it

Not much OS'ing today, but lots of decluttering, tidying, cleaning, washing and ironing on the cards!

Tea tonight will be ranchero pie, I'll be making loads of mash so I can use the leftovers to make Pink's potato bread (DD's favourite).

DD is just popping round the shop to get a pint of milk and a tin of beans for me. DH is still in bed.

    Have a lovely day everyone

    ETA: Happy Birthday Halight's twins
