O2 Automtic tariff change- rip-off!
Hi!
Just after some advice on the following:
Arrived home today to be greeted by my O2 bill. Usually the tariff is 10pounds for 200mins/200txts. Today the bill was 40pounds and I was still well under the limits.
I realised my 18 month contract had ended and they had automatically taken all the discounts off-(not a great way to keep their customers!).
I had not been warned about this price hike, but was sent a letter a couple of months ago to say I was now eligible for an upgrade- so to ring if I wanted one but it said:
" If you're happy as you are, your contract with us will simply continue as normal" !!
I have never been informed of this new charge and even if I upgrade now will probaly have to pay it this month too- so thats 2x 30pounds extra down the drain!
Anyway- I said all this to the customer services girl who then said I'd have to upgrade but they cant give me the same deal. (So they could do it last year but not now). I have been with them for well over 5 years and felt this was poor, but when I asked for a complaints line I was told I could only write to the complaints address- Grrr! By the time they respond-that will probably be 3x 30pounds wasted! So apparently the girls manger will call back within 24hrs, but I am considering writing a complaint anyway.
Can they get away with charging me this amount when it the figure has never even been quoted me let alone agreed?
Apologies for the long post!
Thanks!

I'm afraid they can, sorry. You had a discounted tariff for 18 months, once the term is up the discount end and the full price for the call plan goes back into effect.
It happens with all networks, not just O2.0 -
Yes they can. The discount will only run for the duration of the contract, It is your responsibility to know when the contract will end, Not O2's to come chasing after you.0
