People forget that if they borrow money then they have a responsibility to pay it back.I am not a great fan of banks but they are running a business and they have to make a profit so they can employ people and pay their salaries. If they can't they will go bankrupt and peple will lose their jobs.Every business needs to make a profit to survive.I just wish people start to take more responsibility for their actions. What annoys me is the tendency to always blame others for everything. It is immoral for the banks to lend !!! That takes the cake .

Why on earth are you defending the banks ,i give up .

If people are facing financial difficulties and the banks don't help then fair enough, people can do whatever they can to keep afloat. But there is no justification for trying to wriggle out of paying one's debt ,when one is perfectly capable of making repayments, just because some sort of loophole exists.

    Why not ?

Sometimes when i do a job the customer may make me an offer to have something removed from the bill ,i then look at the contract ,the bill and then work out wether it is viable proposition .The banks legal department sit there and go "cheeky !!!!!!! "and consider the proposition .

What they don't do is get the moral bible out ,its business nothing else ,i suppose you have never said "how much for cash ".

Sometimes,it seems banks can do no right. When they lend too much, they are irresponsible. When they scale back lending, they are being hard on customers. When Barclaycard recently reduced the minimum payments to about 1%,there was a huge outcry saying they were trying to keep customers in debt.Yet if they increase the minimum payments, there will be another outcry saying they are making things even more difficult for customers in this climate.
Recently,Nationwide launched a 125% mortgage aimed at customers trapped in negative equity so they could re mortgage. It was slated as being irresponsible.Yet when some banks refuse a deal because people don't have enough equity, they are accused of being too harsh on their customers.People need to adpot a more balanced approach.Banks are not angels but they are not all that bad either. We should be vigilant and punish banks when they indulge in unfair practices.Equally, when we borrow money from them after having understood the terms and conditions ,we should accept that we have a responsibility to pay it back .

Or maybe the banks should be dissolved ,everyone grow there own food ,have a plot of land ,own water supply ,and build there own house .

No consumerism or goods ,no greed ,but nah ,the bankers would never accept that .

People take the whole banks issue too personally ,just because the ladies smile at you from behind the counter doesn't mean they are your best mate .
