    Why not ?

Sometimes when i do a job the customer may make me an offer to have something removed from the bill ,i then look at the contract ,the bill and then work out wether it is viable proposition .The banks legal department sit there and go "cheeky !!!!!!! "and consider the proposition .

What they don't do is get the moral bible out ,its business nothing else ,i suppose you have never said "how much for cash ".

Asking for discount (which is what you describe above) is a lot different than asking for the whole amount to be written off.

So lets say you do a quote for a customer's job. Customer accepts the quote and signs the contract for you to do the work. You complete your end of the deal by doing the job, but the customer says they are not paying the bill because there is a small error in your contract. They want your fee marked unenforceable.

According to you that is ok though because its alright to try it on?

I know this is off topic but something I saw recently on TV made my blood boil.A woman was being chased by Bailifs because she had defaulted on her Council Tax.She was working three jobs but was still unable to make the minimum payment and the council had refused to negotiate a reduced payment. However,it was said that if she had stopped working and gone on the dole, she would not have to pay up.
There is something seriously wrong with the system and society when hard work goes unrewarded and being honest lands you in trouble.Maybe it is the system that is to blame.Hard work and honesty have ceased to be virtues.Greed and evading responsibility seems to be the order of the day.

    You are so, so right.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
  • Hi Woody01, I agree with you about paying off everything you owe, but I am dealing with a loan company who charge £10 every time they call me!!!!! So far, this has added £140 onto my balance owed - how fair is that??????????? Okay, it was my fault I fell into arrears, but I think this is a bit over the top and I'm not sure whether this charge is perfectly legal.

I never understand the system sometimes, it's like the government actually do themselves out of taxes through arrogance.

A friend of mine had his own ltd company which started going through hard times and owed around £25000 in vat / taxes etc. There was no way the company could pay this, so he offered all they could sensibly afford which was around £800 / 1000 per month. This was flatly declined. The tax office busted the company and ended up getting nothing. What's the point of that?? They could of had up to £1000 per month. Something is always better than nothing - I just don't know how they think!

He then ended up on benefits, so the goverment are now paying him. No wonder the country is in a mess.
Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:
