    Hey Samara

I have noted this on the https://www.faster.bt.com website; "What's more, you won't be charged for regrading to the new, faster BT Broadband. You simply take out a new 12 month term on the agreed date when it's activated. "

Really? Is this the case for Madasafish customers?

Note that there is a right answer and a wrong answer.
  • Hi Donnie,

If you choose to upgrade your speeds to 8Mb with Madasafish, you will NOT put yourself into another 12 month contract.

Frankly, we're a little perplexed to why BT are doing this - besides it being fiscally advantageous to have customers locked in a 12 month contract.

When it costs the ISP to provide a new service or upgrade a customer it is fair to ask the customer to agree to a new 12 month contract.

It doesn't cost Madasafish anything to provide the upgrade and I think this may be blatent opportunism by BT (I can't imagine BT Wholesale charging BT Retail for this upgrade when they're not charging us).

We would like to think that our customers stay with us because we provide a good service - not because we've unwittingly locked them in.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

This upgrade also applies to Freenetname and Globalnet who are part of the Brightview group along with Madasafish.

First off, thanks to Samara and the customer service team at Madasafish. I took advantage of the superb offer through MSE and halved my internet bill - goodbye Pipex!

This is a how long is a piece of string question, but here goes.

My account was migrated to Madasafish this morning, and I immediately requested the 8meg upgrade. Any ide how long this is going to take? Are we talking days, weeks?

Mind you it's not the end of the world if it does take a while, as I'm enjoying a solid 2meg connection for £10.99 a month.

    Regards,

    steve
  • Hello Rock-fan35,

We're currently submitting as many of the optin requests as BT will allow us. To avoid disappointment I could safely say that it would take a few weeks for all the regrades to occur.

As you were migrated in this morning - it may be possible that you have already been regraded. You can check your line speed through your router to see what your connection is.

We're processing the upgrades in the order that we've received the Optin requests - I hope that my posting the regrade information early yesterday will have paid off for you Money Savers!

    Kind regards,
    Samara

    Hi,
I received my email from Madasafish informing me that my regrade to 8Mb had taken place yesterday but all the speed tests since have resulted in a *reduction* in speed rather than an increase.
Any thoughts as to the reason?
    TIA

That's a bit scary. I was on 1 meg. Is there any way to opt back out again if that happens?
