I am new to SP after changing via quidco. I like to input my readings on a regular basis so I can keep track of usage and costs. The meter reader came a few weeks ago and input a very incorrect reading for gas ie 200 units too much. I have sent 3 complaints into SP because all I want to do is input my regular readings and the site will not allow me due to the faulty high reading.

This is so frustrating and shows a lack of customer care so I am just about to go on quidco again to find another supplier. I was going to put a `mad` sign here but I am not feeling mad, just disappointed. I was ready to stay with sp for quite a while

I'm with SP for gas and haven't had any problems. In fact, their online account management is what I like best about them. I'd be annoyed if a meter reader came and messed it up!

Sorry to hear that, it sounds rubbish
You should have been able to update the read, surprised SP wouldn't let you do this.

However be aware that many companies not use the same meter readers in the same areas (not all just some) so you might still get the same reader.

Why will they not change the read?

    Hi Kittie,

I am sorry to hear of your meter having been misread. As this incorrect meter reading is higher than the actual readings you are attempting to enter, our online system will automatically reject your own reading. I can imagine how frustrating this must be.

Please PM your account information to me directly and I will be happy to remove the incorrect reading, which will then allow you to continue using our online function to enter meter readings successfully.

I'm pretty sure that, however well intentioned you are, you should not be asking people to PM you. A freephone number would be appropriate, I think.

I appreciate what you are saying Magentasue and my intention is only to assist kittie with her enquiry, as from her post I believed she had been frustrated in her efforts to resolve this through normal channels previously.

The suggestion for her to PM me was purely to ensure her account details remained confidential and it is my intention to contact her personally from a ScottishPower office to deal with the enquiry offline so to speak:beer:

I am sure MSE will be happy for scottish power representative to help sort out problems via PM. Beccus has being doing the same thing for Aviva for over a year on the Insurance Board without it being stopped.

Apologies if I'm wrong but I was sure that Martin made it clear that it was unacceptable when the eon reps were doing it.

Sorry to hear you have not had a good customer service experience with Scottish Power.

You don't seem to be having too much lkuck with energy suppliers do you? First you had a bad experience with Ebico and their customer services (Swalec).

Then you siad you had moved to BG lastDecember but obviously decided to move again for some reason.

Best of luck in finding a supplier that you are pleased with ... but you appear to be running out of options fast.
