What is a "starter home"

chucky - please don't bite me! I didn't want to buy a 6 bed property with 3000 sq feet in my early 20s and I don't want to buy one now in my late 30s either.
If you look at the post that you've quoted, you'll see I haven't said anything about what anyone should or should not be able to buy. All I'm saying is that even if an average (ie whole career average) salary will buy you a starter home, that doesn't mean that average people can get onto the housing ladder in an affordable way. You're welcome to disagree if you like - you can say that housing is "affordable" if average people can buy a 2 bed flat in their mid forties, if that's what you think.
If you want to argue about whether housing should or should not be affordable to average people, then quote someone who's addressing that part of the debate. Even if you think the whole "should" part of the debate is meaningless, surely on this board of all places it's legitimate to discuss what "affordable for average people" means, which was all I was doing. I can't see why you think that's stupid.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Paul young once said its where he left his hat , so it must be a hatstand.
If the saying is right then the hat stand must be small enough to fit in a ribcage , because as everyone knows home is where the heart is.
So therefore if an englishmans home is his castle , it must be the one you see in fish tanks to be able to fit in the ribcage previously mentioned.
IF like the cowboy sings that home is on the range , where the deer and antelope play , then it must be on top of a very large aga.
Home , a popular nickname for effemeniate boys of the irish o'sexuals clan.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -
