Tiscali broadband

Anyone know if they're any good? My mum has tiscali dial-up and I'm thinking of upgrading her.

    One of the worst ips around, terrible speeds, totally unreliable and their customer support is an absolute nightmare.

    I have been with them for well over a year and have had no problems with speed etc but have to agree their customer service is crap. You can only phone an indian call centre at an extortionate rate. i have only stayed cos I wanted to keep the same email address but any problems and I will be out of there.
    I would avoid anyone with an Indian call centre

    i hav been with tiscali for 3 years and hav had no problems with them

    Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

    I have been with tiscali for 4 years, on dial up then broadband for the last two years, had no problems, 5 free texts a day for your 6 e-mail address that 30 a day from your PC! good value for money in my eyes for what i use it for.Their call centre in India is a nightmare though, these people are reading a script out to you, no PC knowledge @ all!
    But i take Tiscali as i find it and thats its ok for me.

    When I changed to another isp, I still kept my old tiscali email address, and in fact I'm still using it, so you don't have to lose it if you change isps.

  • I have heard many mixed things said about Tiscali. They are cheap, but if you get stuck, their customer service is not helpful.

    ANYONE considering Tiscali - DON'T DO IT!!!! I have been without broadband for weeks now. The people manning their 'customer care' lines are totally inept. I have been trying to sort out a payment problem for six months now - they seem incapable of taking credit card/debit card payments. Each time I phone up - running to dozens and dozens of times, they tell me it is all sorted, well I believed it the first time! If you want inept customer services, never being able to speak to the same person twice in at least 4 different call centres, technical call centre in India where I could not be understood - Tiscali is the one. Now after 6 months (I know I should have left sooner) and weeks of no service I cannot even migrate away to a new provider! They keep giving me MAC numbers - migration codes which, I am told by my prospective new provider, are deliberately wrong!! Aparently to keep customers with them they prevent them from leaving by giving false information! There are much better reliable providers out there.

    I have been with tiscali for yearsand are fab, never lost a connection yet, and who needs customer services when you have the techie board :confused:

    Best ISP have ever been with, they get too much bad rep, I have reccomending it to loads of people and they are all very happy with it as well.

    Some things you just can't fix yourself... for example, if they "forget" to take a direct debit, then insist you phone an 0870 number at your expense to talk to an incompetent mong that takes half-an-hour to process your payment details.

    It also gets pretty frustrating when they stop you uploading to your webspace, and can't understand the difference between "uploading" and "downloading". Aaaaaaarghhhhh!!!! You're an ISP for goodness sake!

    I can't fault them on speed and price, though. I'd be happy to pay more with another ISP, but once you're with Tiscali the only way to leave is to sever your Internet connection and be without it for weeks (months?) on end... the horror!!!

    Madasafish and Pipex get very good reviews for customer service, price, and quality of service. Check out https://www.adslguide.org or https://www.broadbandreports.com for ISP reviews.
