Removing tax disc from part exchange when dealer needs to drive it away?

The way I understand it is that the previous owner does not have to declare it SORN, as you declare that you were the previous keeper and that you have sold or transferred the car.
So at no point will the vehicle be SORN and no problems caused to the trade plates etcIt's not just about the money0 -
may get a ticking off from the police if he was stopped, for not displaying a disc but so long as you could show it still had cover i'd imagine he would'nt get done for the vehicle being untaxed.
I thought that trade plates do cover dealers tax & insurance liabilities so it shouldn't be an issue for the exchange
I'd say those that have said take if off unless specifically mentioned when the deal was done are giving the best advice here, but this little quote (above) might get mis-interpreted in other situations.
I'd hate to see someone drive a car not showing a valid excise disc and try relying on 'it's at home' or 'in the post'.
The offence is 'fail to display' and it's a strict liability matter. A good many have found that out to their cost.0
