it's treating the title as a "string". therefore it would sort in the manner stated above. The "date" section of the title needs to be converted/cast to a Date Data Type (programming term) first and then hopefully it will sort correctly.

Nice idea but doesn't look quite right yet.

This is what I got today after logging in and clicking the button

First there are a few threads out of place on the first page ....
E: 01/07 Win a Driver Chicane Chronograph Watch with Links of London
E: 01/09 Win a case of champagne with Laithwaites
E: 07/07 ? Win ~ The complete range of Linwoods' Healthy Super Foods
    E: 16/07 Win a 5 star luxury getaway to Cyprus for 2
    E: 16/10 Win a year's supply of Johnson's baby wipes
E: 26/06 Win ~ 1 of 2 VIP packages to the Royal Henley Regatta
E: 26/06 tickets to see High School Holiday at Lyric Dinnington (Email)
    E: 30/06 Win an MP3 & Signed Book
E: 31/07 Exclusive Overnight Stay at Old Trafford FC (Laterooms.com)
    E: 31/07 Win a Wing Walk!!!
    E: 31/07 Win a year's supply of bottled water
E: 31/07 Win ~ An exclusive summer festival experience with Edinburgh Festivals
E: 31/10 Win £100 and Lunch on Warburtons
E: 01/01 Win wedding photography package worth £1250
E: 01/07 3 x Leather luxury goodies from Live Luggage
    E: 01/07 Pick me Up Issue 25
E: 01/07 Win 1 of 5 ‘From Here To Helsinki’ CDs
E: 01/07 win a copy of Soli Deo Gloria's renowned recording of Brahms Symphony 1.
Then it settles down with the 01/07 threads.....

These ended on page 17 and the next threads were 01/08

    On page 18 the 01/08s ended and 01/09s started followed by 01/10s, 01/11s, 01/12s

On page 20 the 01/12s ended and 02/07s started ????

On page 26 it went from 02/11 to 03/07

This puts comps ending at the end of this month .... 30/06 .... right down on page 163

It looks like the sorting is being done on the day first, then the month so we get all the 01/mm for all months, then all the 02/mm etc.

I also hope someone has taken "wrap round" into account.

As we get towards the end of the year we will be getting comps ending dd/01 and dd/02.
Because there is no year specified these will appear at the top of the list instead of the end.
Either we will have to live with this or the sort will need to wrap anything ending before the current month to the end of the list.

For example in November (month 11) anything ending in a month less than November (01,02,03....) should be at the end because they must refer to the next year.
Thankyou for explaining it like that, I thought it was only me seeing it that way and not been able to explain it properly:D
    to be updated:;)
  • that would be fantastic thank you Martin!!!
