For one day only, Thurs 25 June, ebay is scrapping the insertion fee it charges for auctions. This usually costs up to £1.90 depending on what you're starting price is. You'll still pay the usual closing fees.

For more info read the ebay Selling guide.

I;m never sure about these as if everyone lists on this day. Surely this will make lots of things finish at the same time. So will it bring your prices down? So to save 30 or 40 pence will you loose more money if your auction price ends up being less?

Just a thought. I assume its only for private sellers? So not sure why I'm thinking about it. Excuse the rambling

Don't be fooled, they sting you at the end sellers fees. If you start at 99p there is no fee anyway.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Normally free listing days do cause a massive glut of listings, leading to less bids and suppressed prices, but since it is free to list for 99p for the last few months, I'm not sure if this will have as much effect as we've seen in the past.

What I "think" will happen - people will list at 4.99 for free, it wont sell, so they will relist it at 4.99 the following week when the charges are back to normal.

And don't forget that it is 10% final value fee when the item sells....

Oh great. Not only will there be the usual sub-99p tat, there'll be ludicrously over-priced tat to trawl though as well for 10 days. Great

Cyberbob, yep private (read, "I'm a business, but don't declare it" :p) sellers only. Just think of all the DVDs anf games that'll be listed for free, as it's the only way to list for free and yet stick your P+P into the item cost at the same time...

Your right Dave its going to be full of TAT. Ive a lot of stuff to list so I may leave it a wee while and just stick with my present listings for a few days.

Does anyone know if the free listing offers start at midnight on Wednesday? I have a really busy day planned Tursday so wouldn't be able to list anything, but I would be happy to stay up later on the Wednesday and do it then...
No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!:D

    Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target :(

Altho free to list at 99p, too many categories now have mandatory 'free postage' rules :( I've completely gone off the concept of ebay now. 10% final value fee, you have to accept paypal so thats another 5% they cream off. the free postage thing (which I expect will soon be all ebay items).

Sure you get something for whatever you have lying around I guess. But its almost to the point of not worth the effort now!
