I can recommend that vax bubble .Its better than my old dc01 dyson by far.
My other half knows that the moggies were here first and always shall be!I had 3.Hes now added 2 little kitties to mine. :-)
I'm ashmatic but oddly dogs set me off.Sometimes worrying the stress of thinking about something can actually make it worse.
I'm wondering if its actually your cleaning thats causing him more harm with dust than kitty fur.Ive 5 kitties now they dont bother me but hoovering and dusting crucifies me because of dust.
I can recommend brown parcel tape for picking up cat hair in unusual places.I use it on my cabriolet roof!2 for a £1 in poundland.0 -
My vax bubble by the way cost me £25 for a reconditioned like new one off ebay. Its roller rotates hence pics up hair.0

Thanks for all the advice everyone!
I think I'll have to do a bit more research into getting a new vac - I really can't afford the full priced ones that are recommended for cat hair, but maybe e-bay or something second hand can be found.
Well, OH is arriving on Thursday, so hopefully I'll have the petalcleanse liquid by then and will do some cleaning with what I've got...I did some today and the rest tomorrow so it gives the dust a chance to settle.
Really like the tip about the masking tape - I've got some of those rollers and they're the only thing that really gets the hair off!0 -
Bit of a late reply (was searching for info on Dyson's), but I thoroughly recommend PetalCleanse. When I first met my OH he was allergic to cats, I discovered this stuff and used it on the cat weekly. Over time I kept forgetting to use it and the times between my OH noticing his alergic reaction kept getting longer. When he noticed it, I cleansed the cat and it sorted it for a while. He has now been living with the cat as his 'bessie mate' for the past 4 years and the last time I used the Petal cleanse was about 3 years ago.Make £2025 in 2025

Parcel tape is excellent for picking up animal hairs and cheaper than masking tape, just wrap it around your hand.I used to be really allergic to cats, but the more i was around my friends cats, the more tolerant i became, and now i dont suffer anymore, so there is hope...0

Hi there!
Have posted a few times over the past months regarding the incompatibility of my 2 cats with my extremely allergic boyfriend.
Well, the good news is that I've found good homes for both of them, and I know the new owners, so I'll be able to visit and see how they're getting on!
So now comes the mega-clean-up....
My main plan of action involves washing anything that can be washed (including curtains, duvets, cushion covers) and then rollering all fabric surfaces with the sticky roller.
I guess I'm quite lucky in that most of that flat has wooden floors - only the hallway is carpeted. However, on closer inspection this does seem to be made up of a layer of cat hair  (even with relatively regular vacuuming.....:o )
When I've posted before, people have recommended various vacuum cleaners but I really can't afford to buy a new one. Was thinking that I could really brush the carpet with something first- maybe it would get more hairs out?
Another idea that crossed my mind......I have a bottle of the petalcleanse stuff (lotion for the cat itself) and was wondering if this would work on furnishings??? I know this sounds daft as hell but it's quite watery and says it neutralises the chemical that people are allergic to....
Anyway, if anybody has any ideas/experience of these things, any advice would be appreciated...... or any moral support as I go round the house picking up cat hairs!!!

When I was nannying the family I worked for had cats that ALWAYS got into the nursery and shed hair which the mother hated. I put on rubber gloves, got a bowl of warm water and got down on my hands, dipped hands in the water and rubed my hands down HARD on the floor, pulling toward me. All the cat hair in the carpet with lift off into rolls. Easy peasy and no chemicals. MUCH better than a hoover.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

I can second that tip! Also don't buy those lint roller things as the tip also works on settees, cushions etc.0

Thanks for those tips! Lint rollers are soooo annoying and expensive!0

However, I was just thinking that I might still have to use them - whenever I wash the bedsheets some of them still come out with loads of cat hair on (i guess they really cling to some fabrics). Then it's like I have to "iron" them with the roller.0
