I think its called petal cleanse, some chemists sell it,you can buy it as a spray or wipes.0 -
- Brush cats daily outside if possible
- Buy a vacuum/carpet shampooer - I have a cat and am amazed at how much cat hair comes up when shampooing. Also saw in the hardware store a special vax vacuum for pet hairs. But the shampooer works very well IMO. I would think it would assist a lot.
- At ASDA you can get these small rollers which have sticky paper cartridges and I use these to roll over the furnishings and curtains etc. It picks up the stubborn hairs.0 -
Thanks for all the advice!
I don't have carpets in most of the house - I'll try the shampoo on the one in the hall.
I was also just reading some threads about vacuum cleaners - there's one called Miele cat and dog TT5000 (I think) on there which everyone seems to say is excellent at picking up animal hairs. I think this kind of vac would be a good investment at some point.0 -

I've always had cats and tbh I don't think you need a special vac if you have mostly solids floors but if you have lots of carpet you do. At this time of the year I brush my cats daily and this realy does make a difference to the amount of fur they shed on carpets, curtains and furniture. I still have to vac every day and if you have cats I think you just have to accept that you will need to vac everyday just as you would expect to walk a dog daily if you had one. Some of my cats have hated being brushed but brushed they are and they get to tollerate it eventually. The two I have now lie on theirs backs for a bit of fuss as soon as they see the brush LOL Big softies.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Use the hose bit to hoover the cat! My old kittie loved it and it got all those lose hairs right off her. I haven't tried it on the little one yet as she is just getting used to the hoover.0

Hello
I have to apologise to pickle, just in case she (he?) thinks I am blatently contradicting her! So, sorry Pickle! Anyway, here goes:
I had some of these rollers, picked up a couple in H&Ms for 99p each - however I have realised that they are basically glorified masking tape. So, in MSE spirit I would recommend the stick paper roller route, but suggest that you purchase some rolls of wide masking tape. You will get a lot more sticky paper for your money. I bought a four pack from B&Q...one for upstairs, one for downstairs, one in the car (even though the kitties never actually get in the car but the car seats always have cat hair on them) and one in work (cos I sometimes look like the cat slept on my uniform even though all I've done is walk past the v.hairy one). I must admit my cat hair problems quadrupled when I got a long-haired mog. I wouldn't part with him though, he's gorgeous.0
