After a week of reading up on every computer part going(i love reading up on parts before buying anything):o, i have finally come up with a custom built rig im happy with. Just wanted a final thumbs up from real experts on here.

CAS:APEVIA X-Cruiser Mid-Tower Metal Case w/ Side Window (Blue Color)
12" COLD CATHODE NEON LIGHT (RED COLOR)
CS_FAN:Default Case FanPOWERSUPPLY:600 Watts Power Supplies (CyberPower 600W Power Supply)
CPU:(Quad-Core)Intel® CoreT i7 920 @ 2.66GHz 8 MB cache LGA1366
FAN:INTEL LGA1366 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK
MOTHERBOARD:Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R X58 2 Way Crossfire/SLI DDR3MEMORY:6GB (3x2GB) PC10666 DDR3/1333mhz Triple Channel Memory VIDEO:ATI Radeon HD 4890 PCI-E x16 1GB DDR5 Video Card HDD:Single Hard Drive (1TB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16M Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive CD:(Special Price) LG 22X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER (Black Color)
WNC:PCI Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps Network Interface Card
OS:Microsoft® Windows VistaT Home Premium w/ Service Pack 1 [+85] (64-bit Edition)

All the above comes to dead on £920. £20 over my budget, i have still had to cut one or two corners, the onboard sound aint great, but will do for now, and when buy a decent speaker set, hopefully be "ok". The rest looks decent for the price. Please say you agree:eek:

One final thing, i could save £85 by not getting vista 64 bit. Now i could get Windows 7 like has been mentioned. That £85 could be well spent on improving one or two parts. I think i asked this other day, but how would i get Windows 7 on the system. Would i actually need a OP system on the compouter before putting W7 on it.
Anyone know if Windows 7 works with the latest games ok without crashes etc..?
Finally what would the cost of W7 be when released.

Thanks, i will be ordering the computer by wednesday(if it's given the ok by you lot).

Fair enough. As far as I can tell, all that's missing is a card reader. 802.11n might be a worthwhile upgrade too.

    did I mention you're buying a dual GPU (Xfire) motherboard...and only 1GPU
..and I'm sure someone mentioned unbranded PSU = fail

dump silly lights and coloured fans..spend the money on good a good quality PSU and a decent CPU cooler (yeah...I know you're already over budget...but how much are you gonna cry when your PC sounds like a tornado for the 1st year until the PSU emits magic smoke and takes out the motherboard and CPU...leaving silense and a slight odour of expensive burning? On the bright side your tears could help extinguish the flames.)

The psu is suppose to be ok, according to them it is fine.(which obviously they are going to say).

All the motherboards for that system with Core I7 come with (crossefire/sli), so you can upgrade in future isnt it. Either way i have no choice.

I agree on on Cooling fan, next one up is £31 price increase. Dam never easy:o

DB error is 100% correct. Would be silly to skimp on one of the most important parts of your PC. I have no problem with budget PSU's, I have one in my media center and know there are a few gems out there. But buying decent motherboard, CPU, graphics card etc and then pairing with a PSU I've never heard of isn't the best idea.

Nowt wrong with buying a xfire mobo with 1 gpu. The new radeons are to be released soon so the 4890's price will drop like a stone so adding another one won't set you back much.

Yes thats what i was thinking, be able to add a 2nd HD4890 in future.
Ok just looked at PSU's on offer to go with it. Next up is

    SILVERPOWER PSU 600W SP-600A2C

Are they a decent brand/maker? Would that do?

From what's available, I'd suggest either a Corsair, Enermax or Tagan PSU.

What if i got 500GB for now, that would be enough for a few games to store won't it. I could save £30 and change the case for cheaper one and get rid of the lights. Should save about £50.

Would i be able to add a further 500GB in future, would that mohterboard allow it?
