OK - that rant re Father's Day:
I get very annoyed and upset on DH’s behalf that his kids are bad about his birthday and father’s day – he is lucky if he even gets a card from them.
I would not expect them to shower him with gifts, but a card, even one they made, is surely not too much to ask? He is always there for them, runs them around even when they are not staying with us, and he would never forget THEIR birthdays.
This w/e they were actually staying with us, but only his daughter bothered with a card, neither son even wished him a happy father’s day – and the 18yo has quite a well-paid job several evenings a week, and can afford to buy himself ‘designer everything’ and takes his g/f out regularly for meals etc, and on her birthday took her for a night at a posh hotel (having got DH to play taxi!)….but not even a card for his dad this weekend - GGRRRRR!!!The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Bitsy sorry the childminding isnt taking off....I dont understand it as childminders have big waiting lists here
Do you advertise anywhere? Childminders I know advertise on the noticeboard at the local nurseries and pre schools where parents are thinking about childcare for when the little ones go up to school and the mum maybe goes back to work....just a thought.....and also at parent and toddler groups.
It took me a year to find a childminder for DS due to his special needs and it is only for 4 hours a week I needed it....most didnt want to know once they knew he had a statement:rolleyes:
Good luck with it and hope it picks up soon0 -
Morning all (just)
Nice here to-day, lots of clouds some sun but nice and warm....about to put several loads of washing on line, OH has a dentist's appointment at 12.30...he has a loose filling and our own dentist can't see him for 4 weeks so this is a lady dentist he has never seen before.....I have to go to hold his hand.
Dinner will be spaghetti of some type, maybe carbonara as I have bacon left from yesterday and lots of eggs. Want to crack on with painting in kitchen, none done since Wednesday last so I have a lovely ceiling and skanky walls and windows!
OH having fits as his cabbage, which was earlier attacked by rabbits is now suffering with caterpillers, he is spraying as I speak, hopefully it will work.
Kittens will not stay off table and worktops so have been evicted to back garden, food and all...had to close windows then as Thunder decided that they were as good an entrance as any...have never had this problem before and am unwilling to scrub whole kitchen every time Iwant to make a sandwich or cup of tea.
Have a good day all, hugs to all in need or want

Yep done all that. Might do another leaflet drop again but not holding my breath. Was chatting to another couple of CM's just and they were saying how quiet it was......

Thank you Aussie Lass.
Bitsy Beans - Sorry that it is not working out with the childminding. I am sure once you get started it will self perpetuate as a lot of childminders are found by word of mouth - once you have someone who is happy with you then she will tell her friends and so on. I am sure it will happen, as I said when I did it I was registered for ages and then ended up with a waiting list!
Fairyelephant - I know just where you are coming from, My OH has 6 children from previous marriages and only one of them bothered with a card! They range from 41 to 9 years old - maybe the 9 year old had an excuse as her Mum is a vicious BFH and would obstruct if she said she did want to send him one - but the others - next youngest is 17 they all are working and the oldest 4 are better off than we are! It is his birthday on Wednesday - I am expecting nothing from them. My 4 all sent him a Father's Day card and will remember his birthday but I know it hurts him that his do not bother.
It makes my blood boil! I will not get started about the heart surgery that he had last year and we did not see hide nor hair of any of them - although they did all say "anything we can do, let us know" I did and they all had excuses why they could not do anything!!!
Had my left over BBQ lunch - quite nice really, lovely and sunny here now.

Hi Guys!
Thanks for all the well wishes.
Got to have more tests done next week:rolleyes:...consultant has given me a new medication to try this week..hopefully it will help. Trying to hold off going back in hospital for as long as I can as it wont be local and OH will have to travel 2hrs each time he visits.
Got the sausages out last night and they are off...so we are now having Fish & Chips for dinner from the local chippy:D
Aussie-Those pasties sound lovely.
Twink-Thanks for your letter. It was waiting for me when I got home:j:j
Anyway, I am shattered.
Hugs to all.

Afternoon all, just checking in quickly, as I'm shattered today.
Busy weekend - went to a Pick-Your-Own place Saturday morning and got a load of strawberries, also bought some cherries at the market stall when I went to get my fruit'n'veg.
Saturday afternoon was the Picnic At The Pub organised by the local motorcycle club, at our favourite watering-hole (which was quite exhausting) and Sunday was spent turning the aforementioned fruit into jam; also made some strawberry ice cream (yummmmm).
So I'm not doing anything today (Mr LW has volunteered to cook tea later) - hopefully back to relative normality tomorrow.
I hope everyone had a good Solstice.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Hi Guys!
Anyone know what I can do with Salami Milano thinly sliced (80g) except in sarnies or on a pizza...It was on special for £1 and is in date till the 29th June, but I havent a clue what to do with it. Thought it was a good idea at the time:D
DD & her friend are upstairs finalising their interviews they did at the park this afternoon on what the public thought about a certain subject. They are a couple of nutters and if you were approached by a video camera and 2 mental 14yr olds.....then I apologise:o:rotfl:
