Can I get O2 Broadband if I am with sky talk (landline) instead of BT?

I want to get broadband internet but I need BT line before getting broadband. Now I do not have BT line at new home. I want to know if I can get Sky TV+Broadband+Talk without BT line? Or I need BT line before getting Sky package?

Also I wanna ask about UK home phone system. BT usually charges customers for connection fee (about£122). So in every house, if you want to get homephone you need to get BT first? Can you get Talk Talk line or other company instead of BT (at the very beginning when you have no phone line at home)?

What if you are with BT, then you move to Talk Talk. Then you wanna get back BT again. Will BT charge you connection fee again?

I am so confused. I am moving to new house and I need broadband internet (I will not go for mobile broadband) which there is no cable service in my area. So I wanna get the cheapest and most worth money deal. That is why I wanna know if I really need only BT before getting any broadband internet.

With the exception of Virgin Medias cable network, and if you are unfortunate in living in Kingston upon Hull, then all fixed line telephone services are installed and owned by British Telecom.
It is possible for you to go to another supplier, say the Post Office or Sky who may arrange for BT to install a line for you. You will then pay a third party rather than BT for the service.
If you take out a contract with BT you may be able to get the line installed for less than £120 ish.

No you need to have a BT landline.

You don't need to be a bt customer, just need a bt type line (rather than a cable).

Put your number in on the o2 site and you will see you can get their service.

Basically, if you don't pay BT for a line, but some other company instead, you can't go to O2 for broadband since you don't have a BT line.

It depends if you have post office line you can have it

But I am not sure about sky

i think with TalkTalk you can't have it because the line is unbundled

This is incorrect.

As previously posted, o2 do NOT need you to pay BT for your line.

All you need is a BT type connection (who you pay for it is immaterial -eg post office/phone co-op/sky etc)

If you have Sy and Skytalk, why dont you have Broadband from Sky either free or £5 a month.
Why pay o2 or am i missing something.

because
if I go for sky broadband, it will be £5 for "up to 10Mb Monthly allowance 10Gb".

If I go for O2 broadband, it will be £7.30 for "up to 8 Mb Monthly allowance Unlimited usgae". But I will get £50 cash back from quidco so I will have to pay only £3.13

Also in my home area, the maximum speed for broadband is 8.5Mb. So there is no different if I go for 8Mb or 10 Mb.

I have ordered the sky package last month. Sky TV was installed at the end of last month.

Today I got a letter from sky to confirm that they will come to install phone line in next 10 days. They also provide my new home phone number in the letter.

In my new house I just move to, there is bt socket, and I assume it is ready to use (no need to be installed anything more...just needed line connection). because I tried to connect my home phone with the bt socket and it worked(I heard noise when I hold the phone to my ear).
However, after I read the letter from sky today, I tried to plug the home phone in the socket again. There is no sound like before. So I use my mobile phone to ring my home phone number (sky provide it on the letter). What I heard is the noise of working phone line that wait for someone to pick up(i mean the noise on my mobile phone)

OK, What I wanna know is....Can I order o2 broadband to be installed now? or I should wait until the phone line installation is done in next 10 days? It's just that I now have to use mobile dongle to connect to internet and it's to slow and not convenient to me at all. I can't wait for ADSL broadband to be installed.

Can anyone suggest please?
