the lira is not on the converter that you used on the link above
Visa only publishes exchange rates for a limited range of currencies. However, you can reasonably assume that the Visa exchange rate will be close to the rates published on sites such as www.xe.com/ucc . This is the rate used by the Nationwide card with no extra fees or charges applied.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Wherever you go, having used my Flex card in Dubai, South Africa, Australia and Bulgaria (none of which use the Euro) as well as in the Eurozone, you will undoubtedly receive a better rate than either purchasing currency in the UK or even in banks in the country which you are visiting - which usually offer a much better rate than any UK bank/bureau de change, etc.paulwellerfan wrote: »in my original post i was asking about turkey not Bacelona.

For Croatia, and the rest of former Yugoslavia apart from Slovenia, the answer is yes there is a 1% charge. However, it is still likely to be the cheapest way to withdraw money. See the list of countries where there are charges or no charges here http://nationwide.co.uk/current_account/foreigntransactions.htm0

There is a 1% charge, however, the rate is still going to be significantly better than you will get elsewhere.
For example, the current exchange rate, as on xe.com is £1 = 8.52HRK.
If you compare this rate to that offered by the post office, 7.96 you can see that even with the 1% charge, the rate will still be significantly better than you can get by changing your money before you go.0 -
I used to get the currency exchange rate on my Nationwide flexaccount internet statement, but now just the sterling amount withdrawn, is their anyway I can see the exchange rate on the statement (tried selecting the full tab, but still the same)
I do realise that a math calculation gives me the rate but just wanted to see it on my statement....thankssomething missing0 -

Mine still shows me the foreign currency amount, the exchange rate and the Sterling amount (or it does for Euro transactions, at least).
Which currency was it? Are you sure that Dynamic Currency Conversion was not used?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this but if you withdraw cash with your Nationwide card abroad although you dont pay a fee the cash does accrue interest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I think it's the Flex Account debit card that's being discussed so provided you have the funds available, no interest issue - just withdrawing cash from a current account. Nationwide credit card may be different for cash advances of course.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
