    well not sure what else I can do with this at the moment, will have to take to work with me tomorrow and continue to try and find a solution I guess......

    I did a totaly clean install of windows xp and so IE 8 is now not on the machine.....

    just can't seem to find the other drivers I need.... will hunt for a driver disk in work tomorrow to see if I can find the missing ones

    Assuming that the driver has in fact been successfully installed, you will probably need to reconnect the router to both the modem and your laptop. Otherwise, you'll need to use Virgin's horrible dial-up software to connect to the Internet.

    Do you have any more network cable?
