Dell Lattitude D600 driver problem

Hinot sure if anyone can assist, have been on dell website via another machine and downloaded drivers according to info given after putting in service tag on machine,however I dont seem to be able to get the following drivers installed correctlyNetwork controller and Video controlleranyone have any suggestions pleasehave tried to plug laptop direct into hard wire connection to internet but still cant get it onlinethanks in advance

On the underside of the laptop does it give you a clue as to what ethernet card you might have installed in your laptop, I can't remember of hand as I haven't worked on a D600 for years but on the download site what options do you have for drivers?
Just read through your post again, in control panel system devices what icon do you have against the nw card? you could delete it if it has a question mark against it and reboot your laptop to see if it can pick it up again.0 -
Have you downloaded and installed the chipset driver? Intel calls it the INF Update Utility for some reason...0

that didn't work..... not sure what else I can do as i have downloaded all drivers that come up when I put the service tag in on the dell site.....all it shows is network controller and VGA controller as needing drivers.... yellow ? next to themanybody got any ideas on how to resolve?thanks in advance2007 £1749

Assuming you've already activated Windows XP, you may be able to get the remaining drivers from Windows Update. Go to Start→Help and Support, select "Keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update" and - when it appears - click Custom. After a short interval, you should see a list of categories on the left, one of which will be Hardware, Optional followed by a number in brackets.

Yes this is the driver I downloaded.......when I put the network cable into the back of the laptop it wont go on linewas hoping if I got it online then I would be able to download any missing bits/updates....have downloaded the inf update utiltiy and will try installing that and see what happens then....I cant remember having so many problems when I reinstalled windows few months back....thanks for all your help and if anyone else has any ideas that would be greatthanks again2007 £1749
