Yep, I can confirm that is indeed the profile of B&Q's in-house solicitor.
Too much time spent drinking and too little time studying her Law of Contract module at Southampton Uni, methinks! Maybe she missed her lectures on remedies and breaches due to hangovers.
It seems that scouring the internet for dirt on your opponents is a two-way process, Claire! :rotfl:0 -
Interesting how the selected quotes taken from MSE mainly show the "tongue in cheek" quotes which they want to take as fact. I'll do the opposite and show quotes where members stated they are willing to take comparable items or even negotiate - or to put a more "balanced" view.
I would certainly ask why ONLY the selected quotes are itemised and NOT the whole thread.

Interesting also how BP seem to suggest that multiple claims all have the same wording and how these forums help each other to make a claim.
These letters are called "template letters", surely BP you must have heard of these??
And yes forums do exist to help members claim against businesses, it's right here on this forum.

Nothing wrong in helping others get through the legal jargon, a bit like lawyers reading law books etc. Where else would the info come from??
But perhaps it's only wrong for consumers to help each other, maybe it's wrong for forums to help each other??
Was there a contract BP??
And was it breached??

Templates are everywhere - includng for lawyers etc. But, please, lay off the lady and keep to the subject that's really important.0 -

It's funny isn't it I didn't read any of the posts as having a go at the girl !
The comparisons were being made about B&Q using as Lynsey says "Interesting how the selected quotes taken from MSE mainly show the "tongue in cheek" quotes which they want to take as fact."
And goes on to point out the B&Q lawyer herself makes tongue in cheek statements herself ie"I will again only work 5 hours a week, get drunk 7 out of 7 evenings,"It's not just about the money0 -
Silk, you've nailed it. That's exactly right, how on earth can quotes on forums/social websites be taken for granted.
Who's to say that the members on here have actually purchased any items from B&Q??
There could be lots of Trolls on here winding people up, take anything on here and elsewhere as a "pinch of salt". But I personally would use her quote to prove the point, especially if it is proven she actually is partly responsible for the T&C's and all the legal stuff at B&Q.

If you did so, you would be firmly told to stick to the point in question. Trying to discredit someone due to their personal life is petty and unprofessional.
You really need to take a step back from this and see how the situation is viewed to outsiders. You have been taken for a ride by certain 'crusaders' who have basically now left you to make a fool of yourself.
Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of the case (I think there are valid points on both sides), I am sorry to say that you are a scapecoat Lynsey.Gone ... or have I?0 -
dmg24, have a look at Silk's last line in post 671. A perfect example on how quotes are meaningless, yet BP want to use "tounge in cheek" quotes as fact.
I would prefer to stick to the point in question, unfortunately BP's arguments/defence are loaded at quotes on MSE and elsewhere.
The point in question obviously is, were the T&C's breached??
