You could well ask if this place will price match or take it back or whatever, but they're not obliged to. One thing to consider: Would it be easier to deal with the local shop or some online place in the event of a problem later on?
Yes this is a good point and obviously it is easier to deal with a local store but because of the price difference if I had a choice I would purchase the fridge off the net as money is tight at the moment. I agree that you expect things to be cheaper online and if this was £20 then I wouldnt have worried but as you said it was more than I expected. Unfortunately, many independents can't compete with online competition which is why they're more expensive. More and more retailers who previously had shops have chucked it in and either given up on gone on-line/mail order. It's worth telling the shop you got it from that you're annoyed about such a large difference in price. I doubt you'll get back the whole difference (unless they operate a price match system) but you might get a goodwill partial refund. That's totally at the retailer's bidding though. You're not actually entitled to anything unless some aspect of the transaction breaks consumer rights laws which seems unlikely in this case.0
