    Are you expressing SM?
I have never breastfed, so the only thing I know is expressing. I have actually started to find it OK, after the first few days where my nipples bled and I was in agony getting no milk at all !! But this evening I have managed to get over 80ml in one sitting :)
Apparently that is really good for day 5 and will probably be at over 150ml per sitting by next week.
Still havent decided if I am going to continue to do this after he is home, not sure if I want to try breastfeeding only to turn around and give him a bottle, or to just keep expressing and let him have a bottle, or to give up and let him have formula.
For now, I know mummy milk os what he needs, so I will happily ignore the swollen nipples and the rock hard boobies and the pain when you touch them !!!

im expressing and breastfeeding i do a bottle at night so philip can do one and give me alittle extra sleep mind i still make up anyway .. i do have to say 80ml in one go is great i can get about 60ml to maybe 70ml if im lucky my nipples didnt bleed more scabbed took a few days to go (and picking :)) still hurts alittle when he latchs on ... as well i havent decided how long im going to do it for but im enjoying the bonding time where its just me and him :D x

Oh god, I feel another "debate" coming, so maybe I should just shut up...

However, for what its worth, I'd give the breastfeeding a go, because if it works, and he's able to latch on, you will find this by far the easiest way to feed, especially as you already know you have a good milk supply. No sterilising, no running out of formula, no heating up bottles in the middle of the night, no running out of milk when you're out for the day.

But if for some reason you can't, expressing and bottlefeeding is by far the hardest way of doing it, and you already have a young child to look after as well as a baby...

But whatever you choose, it is your choice, and best discussed only amongst those you think will take your own circumstances into account and not just spout dogma at you :p

No one's spouting dogma, Nicki. I don't think anyone would tell MM to do something she doesn't feel is right for Dylan.

Nicki, I know what you mean, but the only reason I am even saying it is because I was one of the 'I'm not breastfeeding, bottle is just as good' and to an extent I still think a bottle of formula is fine and dont think anyone not breastfeeding should be told they are doing anything wrong, HOWEVER, saying that, I never saw me being in the position of having a poorly baby and being told that my milk would help him recover quicker as his tummy could handle it better.
It is something that I will have to think about over the next few days and weeks while we are waiting on him to come home. No debate needed, I know my options and the benefits and downfalls of each option, just have to see how lazy I am when it comes to it !!!
