Although I also found that gently removing their hand and quietly saying 'It generally not acceptable to touch a lady's bump' also worked very well too....although prob not with p1ssed people :rolleyes:

some one went to touch my bump at work and i let loose and snap ... then one of the girls turned to him and said you should never touch a womans bump ..ever ... its safer that way :rotfl: x

WEll, they don't 'let' you at all - it is YOUR decision, however they will strongly suggest it at various times depending on where you live.

If you are happy with what they suggest, then great, but if not, you can decline and ask for monitoring of the blood in the cord by doppler to check the placenta is healthy, and as long as it is then baby can come out when it's ready. If the placenta begins to deteriorate, then you should probably go for induction.

But it is not about them 'letting' you.

Usually at Mw apps you just get your blood pressure done, your urine sample tested for protein and sugars, a general chat to check you are OK, a feel of your bump, and from 16 weeks they should also listen to your baby's heartbeat with a doppler - so you should get to hear that for the first time! You might want to record it on your phone for posterity.

Later, after about 28 weeks, they also measure your fundal height, but basically all the apps will be pretty much the same from now on.

Morning all!

This early waking business has to stop. It's not even 7am yet.

Hopefully it's a sign of impending shifting, but since it is the 1st July I would like to note: my baby's due this month!

I've woken up at 4am the last 2 days! I'm getting bored of waiting now, wish she would hurry up! I'm even hoping they might suggest inducing me when I go for my appt tomorrow. My sister's only around until Friday to look after DS so I was hoping it would happen before then.

I can;t sleep - not at night, not in the morning; I'm a wreck with puffy eyes My parents are coming down today to do my garden for me but I'm worried they will get heatstroke. I got burned yesterday (can burn in the shade though! Celtic skin) and am still pretty red which is soooo annoying cos it will fade back to white in a few days.

Really, really need some sleep.

Hiya ladies

Has anyone had to fill in one of these sure start grant forms??

I'm confused part 4 is to be filled in if you have already had the baby i havent so i have skipped that section as directed and went to section 5 general information.
Q1 has a sure start grant already been paid (easy one No it hasnt)
Q2 are you or your partner already getting childbenefit

Now there are no other guidlines or notes to this question do they mean are we claiming child benefit for any other children or just for the unborn one obviuosly the answer is different depending on how they are asking the question??

Any ideas?

Xmas I'd say no because you aren;t actually getting it yet. Fill it in as of your circumstances today.
