Hope kitchen work doesn't take too long Michelle but at least you know the quality of the work will be brilliant.

I hadn't realised that about knocking pension contributions off tax credits amounts. We knock our childcare vouchers off but not the pensions. We are paying about £1400 a year into our pensions so I imagine it will make a difference.

This is what I love about this forums, we all have different backgrounds and can offer loads of different advice to each other!

Unless they block you before hand yes. Pension payments are gross so if say you or your OH is over the HR limit by 1k. You could fling 1100 into the pension pot, lose about £600 net wages (£50 a month) yet keep about 2.5k child benefit if you have 3 kids ;)

And you will struggle to beat that deal with anything, as a lower rate tax payer and especially as a higher rate payer !

You sound as if your letting all the mess (and stress!) of the kitchen go over your head Michelle. I hate all the dirt, dust and someone being in my home whilst works done, makes me want to scream! I'm looking forward to seeing your results though :)

I hate pensions..but only because I really haven't a clue when it comes to talking about them. OH age 30 has just got his first through work, better late than never I suppose. I really miss the money though that we are paying into it. It's hard.

"I'd love it if i also got the ironing completely cleared after my mammoth effort the other day, but i am inherently lazy where ironing is concerned."

    Not just me then. :)

I hated it when I had the builders in to make my outside wc as a downstairs usable one, the dust just gets absolutely everywhere. And ashamedly I still find places 3 years later with orange dust! (top of the boiler upstairs!!)

I dont begrudge you at all lol. But I will when you have a lovely new kitchen :D

    This tickled me...
What was you doing looking on top of the boiler 3 years later?
and more importantly did you clean it up? :rotfl:

Nice to see you too Michelle. I noticed on catching up on the forum today that your also the inspiration on grateful doing her diary. As you know you're the reason I started mine. I wonder just how many people you have inspired whilst on your own journey. :)

You have so much patience with mending, I cant sew to save my life. One of the dreams I have for the future is to ..(when I eventually buy a sewing machine ) make a patchwork quilt for my daughter from her old baby clothes. I think Id give up too easily though
