skintscotslass wrote: »Thanks GFH. The difficulty is that the teacher training for HE is through in Glasgow. I dont have a car, so it would take 2.5 hours travelling each way or I'd need to buy a car, which I really dont want to do. However, I'm going to investigate Michelle's suggestion. That would work out so great for me.
The other thing I was thinking about is about my volunteering. I volunteer on a wednesday afternoon at the CAB. I was thinking about volunteering in the school wef Aug when the kids go back. That way, I'd have some experience. What do you think about that?
The uni might be Glasgow, but the schools are scattered all over I bet, e.g. I trained at Oxford but had to teach in Milton Keynes:eek:
So it wouldn't be travelling there for a whole year and I bet someone else would give you a lift unless you are in the back of beyond like me. People with kids tend to get schools close to their homes where possible.
Volunteering is a good plan, but some schools are wary of it because of having to CRB check you. If you can commit to longish term, then they will be keener.
:rotfl:"lazybones teachers":rotfl: I would rather not mark but just spent the cost of a small car on an ed psych referral privately for DD1 as her school not doing the thing.
You have it all right, Michelle, spending time with your LOs while they still are LOs.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
and some schools expect you to pay for your own CRB check!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thank you for all your suggestions re the teaching. Michelle, I think that scheme is only in England and Wales, but I'll phone Learning and Teaching Scotland next week to check. Valli, it wont be a problem getting the CRB check done. Remember where I work?
Anyway, back to the veggies. I also lost a courgette plantAt the mo, I've got lettuce, carrots, leeks, spring onions, brocoli rab, swede, peas, broad beans, french beans and the courgettes. They are in my raised beds. In the greenhouse I have tomatoes, chilli, peppers, sweetcorn and horseradish. Also got strawbs and rasps. We had a bit of a disaster with the greenhouse falling over (more times than I care to remember!) so we have some other fruit bushes but we're not sure what any are lol.
Must nip out and close up the GHs. I love this time of year. Its still broad daylight at the mo:D:D:D:D

I am the same with the money situ this month but it didnt stop me going on a charity shop clothes spree today
got quite a bit though for hols
have used tesco vouchers for our trip to cadburys world tomorrow
I have been perusing the focus groups sites today and it is amazing how much they pay, most of them are in London grrr, but I am thinking that if it is a day off for me and the money is good (some are like £90 for 2 hrs) then the travel cost would be worth it when the kids are at their dads or at school.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
