Advice re Objecting to new housing Estate

Options
Hi,
I have had a quick trawl through, so apologies if I have not spotted an "obvious" existing thread

I have just found out that a Building firm are applying to build a 'small' housing estate in the fields virtually next door to me.

I know that I have no right to a view, nor light , nor fresh air apparently as far as grounds for objecting to this goes.
But does anyone know where I can find out on what grounds I can base my objection ?

I have not been formally informed of this since I am not exactly next to the field, ( apparently there is therefore no need to bother telling me !!) so I haven't much time to get organised

Some endangered bat species ?
Lack of school places in the village ?
Lack of facilities for the existing village population etc?

Many thanks for any advice, or links to any web sites that could be useful.

I don't know where you are geographically but our local council website has a planning part which gives lots of advice as to relevant/acceptable objections to a planning application. Notices should have been displayed around the field in question to lampposts or the like. This will give you the number of the application and further details. good luck

So you do not actually have any real reason for your objection, apart from "nimbyism", and you are casting around blindly for some feeble excuse to object. Hmm!
Apparently it's all right for you to live there but not for someone new. Or is it just a case of, "pull up the gang plank I'm aboard."
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Why not have a chat with your parish council chairman and local councillor about the new estate.

Got to sat TOB, some of your points are counter productive, if you object because local services are under threat because of lack of use, surely building houses is putting more demamnd for the services in place?

I can understand you not wanting gangs of youths, but you're happy for someene else to have them?

I cannot see on what grounds you are objecting other than nimbyism???

I would first check that the building firm even own the land. It is common practice for people to try and get planning permission on all sorts, so that they then could come in with an offer to the owner. A lot don't ever get the land for several reasons. They don't get the planning permission they wanted so its not viable to them. Another is they cannot get it for the right price, also every other person has seen it and come in with different offers.

The site will no doubt be in the Local Development Plan - ie it will already have been earmarked for residential development.

The Planning Consent will be granted subject to various Section 106 and Section 278 Agreements, which require various improvement work to be done.

The UK needs more housing. Just because you live in a village doesn't mean you can be excused from having new houses built. Why do you think the village was built in the first place???

The only way you are going to remove this need is by electing the BNP into government...

I thought that you CAN object on the grounds of view and light etc? I know someone who recently wanted an extension but it was refused. One of the reasons stated was the impact it would have on the neighbours.

    Can anyone confirm?

Also the OP has asked a legitimate question. This isn't the place to discuss the UK's housing needs.

I would agree with the above the local development plan is the key to either gaining or objecting to a planning application. You will need to make yourself very familiar with this document. In you letter of objection you need to refer directly to the document.

The UDP plan for a site near our house on the banks of a canal is for 'employment use' and at the moment it is a quiet low-key/single storey industrial estate that you would never know existed. that didn't stop the land-owners getting planning permission to build 4 and 5 storey blocks of 85 flats! I uncovered loads of skulduggery/lying/secrecy during my research during the 2-3 years it took to finally come before a planning committee and, what a surprise, it happened during the week I was on holiday and was passed. Not coincidence - when it looked like the meeting was imminent i phoned (stupidly) the planning dept to make sure it wouldn't be while we were away on holiday. Oh of course not, it will be months yet! and then it took place that week

Quite so. Anyone who thinks a planning application from the builders like this one will come as a bolt from the blue to the planning department and the councillor(s) who have the planning portfolio is somewhat innocent.
