Well, it is not implausible to get a 90% cut, so you certainly weren't diddling them on taking it.
But I'm not sure whether they have to honour it, and their liability is probably the amount you've paid them.
I say if you like the look of it take the superior romm and have a nice stay there!0 -
Hi,
Have they actually taken any money from you?
If not - how has a contract been formed? I am sure that they will be able to plead that this is a mistake ....

Contracts can be formed without money changing hands. If not, how could a hotel ever legally charge you if you simply failed to turn up.0

Not sure about that.
A few years ago I booked a holiday cottage and about a month before I was due to go the owners decided to let their friends stay there instead, and refunded our deposit.
I took legal advice and they told me I could book somewhere else of a similar standard and sue the owners of the original cottage for any extra charges I incurred. They decided to let me stay after all.
In the OPs position I would suggest Consumer Direct or citizens advice as the next step.0 -
No money has been exchanged. They take the money when you check out.
Would like to take the upgrade, but I don't have a spare £200. I was thinking that if they are allowed to do this, then it opens the door to an interesting business model.... advertise low price, get the details, let the buyer make arrangements, and then tell them the price was a mistake.... at which stage it is probably too late and expensive for them to change plans.
I might open a hotel! anyone want to stay for £1? (subject to changes)0 -
Just to let you all know, that I was able (not without debate) to stay at the hotel at my originally agreed price. The manager did ask me to pay more per night, but I was armed and confident (thanks to all of you!) that I was ok to stand my ground and not pay anything extra.
Great weekend too.
And would recommend the hotel.0 -

Thats brilliant, as far as I was concerned, you may have booked a show or something with the extra money so it would have been out of order to retract as you may be able to cancel the room but not other expenses incurred as a result of the cancellation.0
