Oh no! That's awful. They're REALLY trying to cover their own asses by the looks of it. Don't be disheartened - just think - you're helping to improve future customer service... we hope!

I'm sure you'll be okay and I'm sure RE will appreciate you being so patient and co-operative. Hold in there!

We did a pub job yesterday. I can see why they had trouble finding someone to go. I would not have been at all comfortable in the pub without my husband, just something about the atmosphere. They had no coffee - there was a coffee machine but they had run out of coffee on Tuesday apparently. My tea was served in a cracked coffee cup. I'm very glad my husband (who actually did the job) negotiated substantial extra milage to get there.

    how awful for you
good job you had hubby with you

Of course we have to remember why we are sent to these particular locations its usually because they are not hitting targets, getting repeat custom, complaints have made there way to head office etc...

I expect the worst and if it's good it's a bonus
Hope your next one is better

I would suggest you email them and ask for them to email you the query. That way you have time to write a good, detailed answer, and to word it so that there is no mistaking what happened! Of course, this might take longer than a phone call, but at least it's all on e-paper should there be any more come-back!

I always ignore these emails. The way I see it, they don't pay anywhere near enough in fees for me to foot the cost of calling them to answer what is usually a silly query - and they query way more reports than all the other companies I work for combined. It only takes a few hours until they email the question or call me themselves, and I answer the query then.

I learnt the hard way to be very cautious about pubs that have been on there for a while and aren't being picked up. I went to a really rough pub once, it was horrible. I think the comment about us improving customer service is true, but sometimes it is the clientèle that makes a pub what it is, and there's not much the poor staff can do about that!

If the client raises queries the MS companies don't have any choice but to raise them with the shoppers.. Bit of a waste of time getting "livid". It happens-and is likely to happen more as people's jobs are on the line in the current recession.
Sounds to me you may have MS'd a shop where the manager is an area manager's blue-eyed boy as to me the "no female customers" line is so obviously nonsense and anyway your presence should be picked up by CCTV (unless they store have already deliberately wiped it -which should tell the company something too) If it's the company I think it is I really don't see how they can claim "no female customers all day"-it's laughable and checkable especially as that shop comes with a purchase.
By ringing RE you may get more of the story than replying by email and you can always offer to put your confirmation of what happened in an email at that point. I've always found RE very helpful. As for the cost of calling them it's a standard number so most people get free landline calls at some of RE's opening times.....or should be looking for a better phone package ;)

It's not that the staff at RE aren't helpful, it's just that I resent covering the cost of calling to answer ridiculous queries. I'm not talking about major disagreements like the OP's, where you might want "more of the story". I'm talking about where they query to ask things like "you said it took 3m 45s to serve, that's quite a long time, is that correct?" or "you said it was dark inside the pub, are you sure it was dark?", or "you said the member of staff's blouse had not been ironed - could you tell us approximately how many creases were visible from the customer areas of the store?" - those are the usual RE queries I get, and they really annoy me.
