What do the bulk surveys involve? cold calling? do you get paid for every survey attempted or only those completed? Do they reimburse you the cost of the phone call or is it only one set fee?

you only get paid for a successful phone call and completed form from that survey. Calls are recorded. Ive done them and probably had a 1 in 5 success rate which meant 4 aborted calls which I still had to pay for. OC use an indirect 0845 number to call these surveys which are not free with BT even if you get NORMAL 0845 calls free. Even if you dont get through to a person you still pay a fee to BT. I have checked my BT bill and rough costs for calls AFTER 6pm are 8-10p for unsuccessful calls and 13-25p for successful completion depending how long each one takes. Different phone providers might have different tariffs.:D

Oh and OC do not reimburse you cost of calls. Its a set fee per survey.

It's ringing people up who have used a particular product or service and doing a customer satisfaction survey.

You only get paid for each completed survey and it's an inclusive fee to cover the call costs. You don't get anything towards the call cost if the person won't complete the survey or it goes to answerphone.

I've not done them myself as I briefly worked in a cold calling call centre and hated it, so that experience has put me off!
Here I go again on my own....
  • Thank you to the others for answering about OC, I have only done the calls when they are at the inflated rate (which they currently are at the moment). I am with Virgin Media and pay for the 0845 calls but it worked out to just under the equivalent of £8 per hour including all call costs (including those where the survey was completed and those that declined the survey and were subsequently not paid a fee for) . I thought that £8 per hour for sitting on the sofa doing them was OK , as I say I only do them when the rate is increased and if I can be bothered ! I dont mind the calls as they are not really cold calls and having worked in credit control for many years and am used to people not wanting to talk to you ! However these jobs really arent like that, you are not required to pressurise the person at the other end to speak to you but you wont get paid if they dont so I guess that in a way is pressure.... OK I am waffling now , will shut up !

So did you have to email OC to get put on these calls, or did it just happen?

Ive never seen calls on OC :(

I was sent an email asking if I would be interested in doing surveys. I said yes, as I thought it'd be like valued opinions or something and that I was actually answering them rather than ringing others to answer. Not done any yet, as not sure I can be bothered, but I do keep getting emails saying crack on, or whatever as they seem to have a lot to do. I'm sure if you email them, they'll put you on.

Do you have an option, when you log onto the OC site for "Bulk surveys" in the tabs on the left hand side?

I've just had the fast food alert again and I'm so hacked off as I failed the test by 1 answer! I thought it meant that you could only fail twice in the one try not that you would be struck off forever! I wish they wouldn't email about jobs they won't let me see!
You can ask them to be taken off the alerts for the jobs you're not eligible for.
I failed one of the answers in the burger test, and after a bit I asked to be taken off that email alert. I've not had those alerts since.

Hello all, I was wondering if any one could help me at all. I recently did a chicken restaurant job for Gap and was unable to get a receipt. Obviously I was majorly worried and explained on the questionairre as to why I hadn't been able to get one and I then went on to e mail them to explain the situation but it's been 8 days now and I haven't received any communication from them at all. So I have no idea if I'm going to get paid or if they've even looked at the completed questionairre!

With Gap, no news is good news.

If there isnt a problem, they wont contact you and payment will be made accordingly :)
